About me

Hi, my name is Bridget and I'm a 21 year old student, animal lover and enjoy the outdoors. I have been raised my whole life with dogs and cats and have lived on acerage. I am currently a full-time university student studying Environmental Management in Brisbane. I love being in the outdoors with animals, which drives my passion for urban wildife management in my field of study at university. I want to pet sit more regularly as I love helping other owners out and sharing and getting advice and tips for handling pets.

My Home Environment and Pet History

I have always had German Shorthaired Pointers as pets and have always had a part in helping walk, toilet train and obedience train them. I feel extremely comfortable working with large dogs because of this so walking will not be an issue. My services for looking after your pet includes; dog and cat walking, conducting home visits, playing, obedience training and also pet sitting dogs at my own house. I live on four acres with my parents and German Shorthaired Pointer. Artie is thirteen and a half years old and is a male, fully vaccinated and desexsed GSP dog. He has a dominant personality when it comes to socialising but ultimtately loves people and pats. Artie has slowed down a lot in his old age so sleeps for most of the day but still likes to guard our family home. Artie will be a good fit for any younger dog who needs a little push to be more submissive, calm and hone down on guard dog instincts. I am happy for you to bring your dog over for a playdate beforehand to make sure our dogs will get along. Earlier in 2018 we sadly had to say goodbye to Artie's long time best friend Louie, who was another GSP. We still keep and hold on to all of the beds and kennels and have more than enough space to accommodate two dogs.

As seen in the photos, we have a large area at the back of our property perfect for running, a tennis court and a front veranda where our dog beds are set up. We have also built a ramp on the front veranda and can block off the stairs. We did this to make our older dogs more comfortable getting in and out of the house as they could no longer manage the stairs safely on their own. We also have a pool and stairs that were designed for dogs to get in and out very easily. Supervised swims are always offered when your dog visits especially over summer and the hotter months.

My Previous Experience with Dog Sitting and Cat Sitting

I have done cat sitting in the past for several weeks at a time where I was living at another person's home. The owners were very happy with how I looked after their fur babies. I love playing with cats and learning their many personalities. I have also had experience with training cats on a harness and walking them on the lead.

I have also done puppy sitting at my own house where the puppy would stay at my house a few days a week. We also had this puppy stay over for five consecutive nights while the owners were away. This puppy was a six-month old female GSP dog (the same breed as Artie). Artie never had a problem with her and she very much enjoyed running around our property, hunting birds and barking at the cows who live next door. It was the perfect environment for an energetic dog who needed to release her energy and learn how to play fetch without the distraction of other dogs like in a dog park.
