About Vicky
As a child our house was never without a dog (and numerous other pets), and I believe that there’s no more loyal companion than a dog.
Growing up with pets teaches us so much about caring for others and the meaning of friendship and loyalty, and I am keen to instil those values in our children. We lost our 13yo Japanese Spitz, Henschke, in 2023, but he was an integral part of our family and a wonderful and gentle “brother” to our kids, who adored him. We recently (September 2025) got a gorgeous Shmoodle puppy, Biscuit. He is very friendly to humans and dogs and loves having new friends to stay. He's never met a dog he doesn't want to be friends wit!
I've been dogsitting since 2022 so have lots of experience looking after dogs of all ages. I work part-time and am in the office two days a week. The rest of the time there’s generally someone around the house, although we do have days out sometimes. Any dog would need to be ok being left 9-5 on the days I am at work. Dogs stay inside when we’re out but we have a fully-fenced back garden with a doggy door, so there’s plenty of space for playing when we're home.
We take Biscuit on the school run once or twice a day, which is about a 15 minute walk. We can be flexible with walking dogs that come to stay, though on weekdays it can be tricky to do long walks in the morning. Therw are several dog-friendly parks nearby but we don't let dogs off their lead unless in a fully enclosed area - just in case!
You're welcome to bring your dog to meet us before making a booking. If the're a bit anxious when they first get here we can put Biscuit in his crate to give them time to sette in.
We live in strata, so can’t take noisy dogs, in case we get complaints from neighbours, and we prefer that dogs don’t get up on the furniture. They must also be housetrained and not inclined to chew toys or furniture. They also need to be fully vaccinated. Most importantly though, they must be used to and completely safe around young children. Our children know to give dogs their space, but inevitably they love to cuddle and pat them if they can.
We’re fully COVID vaccinated, including our eldest, and a non-smoking household.
Unfortunately due to having young children I’m not able to look after dogs in their owner’s home, but can do visits to check on them during the day or take them for walks.
