Heya! I'm Ashleigh! I'm relatively new to New Zealand, having met a lovely Kiwi gentleman and relocated here. Not only have I always had pets, but I am also active in the SPCA, Potcake Place, and Snip TCI in my second home in Turks and Caicos. I'm retired at 44, and I miss having animals, so as I get used to the new country, I thought this would be a lovely way to get involved and give away all of the belly scritches that are accumulating...
In the past four years, I've fostered puppies from as young as two weeks, twins, bottle-fed, to puppies recovering from illness and having to go daily for IVs for rehydration, to bigger pups who needed some time out of the shelter. I have experience with many of the larger breeds, traditionally considered to be more aggressive, and am not daunted by size, as I'm also quite strong and tall, but also because the animals can sense good energy and cuddles ensue.
I also Volunteer at spay and neuter clinics and trap and release programmes to keep stray pet populations in hand. My home on island is a sanctuary where strays know they are safe and will be well-cared for. I've also flown two major medical case dogs off island at my own expense, plus couriered others to their furever homes in the US.
