Give Your Pets A Holiday As Well

About Karen
Heading to the mountains, Lake Eildon or camping? Drop your pet off on the way for maximum convenience!
Going away on holidays should be about relaxing and enjoying yourself, not about worrying about your beloved pet back at home.
So, what can you do to make sure your pet is having as good a holiday as you are?
Here are some of the ways that I ensure your pet is safe, happy, feeling loved and being cared for like my own beloved animal companions.
1. Company.
There will always be someone home and available for company with your pet throughout the day and night.
I also have animal loving teenagers who all love to dote on our doggy visitors.
Your pet will never be left alone during the time they are staying with us, this includes being left alone in the yard.
If you are comfortable with it, your pet can sit on the couch with the family and spend it's time with us in the house.
Our family's beloved giant dog Kozi recently passed away and we all miss him so much. At the moment your dog will be the only one in the home and will be given so much love and attention.
2. Experienced dog owner/trainer (and cats!)
I have owned and trained 4 dogs, including raising two from puppies and 2 rescue dogs.
One of these rescues was badly abused and had many behavioural issues.
I have been through dog school 3 times with our dogs and believe that the most important part of dog training is training the human.
In the past when I have left my own pets with sitters they have sometimes come home with bad habits or less well behaved.
I am able to ensure your dog is at least as well trained as you left him/her and maybe even have picked up a couple of new good habits!
I have three cats and have experience the whole spectrum of working with issues cats go through.
I raised one of the cats from two weeks old.
3. Safe.
If your pup stays with us they will never be left alone in our yard. We do have chickens and ducks on the property and we will ensure they are locked up to give your pup room to run and play.
He/she will sleep in an area with the bedding it prefers and if necessary can sleep in our bedroom if they are used to human companionship.
Your dog will never be left alone to fret or miss your company.
All pets that come to stay with me are required to be up to date with their vaccinations and I prefer that they have recently been treated with a long lasting flea treatment.
I only walk them in areas that are less likely to get ticks.
I am experienced at administering medication.
4. Love
I LOVE animals.
As a kid I had cats, dogs, a guinea pig, ducks, goats, a cow (yes a cow for a pet!) and a horse. I have also raised cockatiels And rescue birds.
When I couldn't have my own pet when I was travelling with the military I walked shelter dogs.
Your pup will be cared for like a member of the family.
5. Communication.
I know from personal experience how much reassurance comes from knowing my pets were happy, safe and content while I was away.
You will received communication and photos from me every day letting you know how your pet is going.
Having this reassurance can make the difference between you having a totally relaxing holiday and being slightly anxious the whole time.
BIO:
My name is Karen Driscoll and for the past 40 years I have been caring for animals of all shapes and sizes.
My first job at the age of 9 was as an animal carer and stable cleaner at a children’s display farm caring for horses, cows, dogs, goats and pigs!
Throughout my life I have always had animals in my life and also have been a part of many animal rescue and carer groups.
Our family currently shares our home with three rescue cats and up until he passed away recently our giant Great Dane Cross rescue that I raised from a young puppy.
Other pets over the years have been many cockatielles, exotic birds, a Border Collie, a Schipperke and an Irish Wolf Hound.
We live just off the highway leading to popular spots such as Lake Eildon, Marysville, Lake Mountain or the Cathedral Ranges to name a few. You can drop off your pet on the way and know that they will be cared for.
