Hi! My name is Oihana and I’m an animal lover with experience in animal care. I’m a wildlife veterinary assistant with professional experience caring for different types of animals, regardless of their species or size. I have worked and volunteered in rescue and rehabilitation centres in Spain, and I have always lived with pets.

I currently have a cat in Spain who is being cared for by my family while I’m here. This has also made me understand how important it is to have someone you can trust to care for your pet with love, responsibility and attention.

I always adapt to each animal’s needs, personality, age and routine. I prefer to care for pets in their own homes, as I believe staying in a familiar environment helps them feel calmer, safer and more comfortable, and miss their owners less. I also currently do not have enough space in my own home to provide them with the same level of comfort.

The length of walks will depend on the dog: around 30 minutes for small dogs or dogs that do not need much exercise, and around one hour for larger or high-energy dogs that need to run and get more exercise. During walks, I can also play with them and adapt to what they need. I will always choose safe areas and grassy spaces where pets are allowed. If a dog is social, we can go to places where they can interact with other dogs; if they are not comfortable around other dogs or prefer peace and quiet, I will choose quieter and more private areas.

During home visits, I can feed them, play with them, take them for walks, clean when necessary, provide company, administer medication or simply allow them to rest. The length and frequency of visits will depend on each pet, their age and individual needs. If a pet needs more attention or cannot be left alone for long periods, I am happy to do three or four visits per day.

I can also safely administer simple oral medication, such as tablets or liquid medication, always following the owner’s or veterinarian’s instructions.
