My British Shorthair has been part of my family since she was a kitten, and looking after her has taught me how to understand a cat’s quiet requirements — reading their body language, keeping a calm and consistent routine. 

Because of her breed and possible developmental issues, she developed a serious right-eye infection that lasted three months. Daily eye drops couldn't fully resolve it, and she eventually needed surgery. Through that time I learned how to give medication calmly and consistently, administer hairball paste and comfort her when she was unwell or stressed. It taught me patience, careful handling, and how important a quiet, reassuring presence is when a cat is not feeling their best. 

I also have practical experience going into friends’ homes to look after their cats for several times. This has included daily feeding, fresh water, cleaning litter trays, playtime and companionship, as well as gentle nail trimming when the cat is comfortable with it. I’m happy to follow any specific instructions owners leave, whether it’s special food, medication, or particular ways of interacting with their pets.
