About Julia
Hi, I'm Julia! Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember—growing up, our house was always full of them: dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, even goldfish. But dogs have always been my favourite. There's something about their loyalty and goofy enthusiasm that just gets me.
Before moving to Australia, I spent a few years in the UK fostering dogs of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. I helped with everything from basic training and socialisation to preparing dogs for their forever homes, so I've had hands-on experience with a wide range of temperaments and needs. Since settling in Australia, I've really missed having a dog around, so I started Tail Tales as a way to fill that gap—and hopefully bring some joy to other people's dogs along the way!
What I offer:
- 30-minute walks – A solid leg-stretch and sniff session around the local area, perfect for keeping your dog active and happy.
- 60-minute walks – A longer outing with more time to explore, plus extra cuddle time before and after.
- Both services include a quick check-in, fresh water if needed, and a photo update so you know your pup had a great time.
Who I care for:
I specialise in small to medium-sized dogs who are friendly, sociable, and love a cuddle as much as a walk. Unfortunately, my setup isn't suited to large or giant breeds, dogs with significant reactivity or aggression issues, or households with multiple dogs from different families at once.
A few practical notes:
I'm based locally and currently available on weekdays. I ask that all dogs are up to date with vaccinations and comfortable on a lead. In the case of extreme weather, I'll always reach out to reschedule rather than risk your pup's comfort.
My approach to walks & safety
Every dog is different, so I always take the time to get to know their personality, energy levels, and preferences before heading out. For dogs who are a little nervous or still building confidence, I keep walks calm and predictable, allowing plenty of time for sniffing and exploring at their own pace. For more energetic dogs, I focus on keeping them mentally engaged as well as physically exercised.
Safety is my top priority. All dogs remain on lead unless otherwise agreed, and I choose walking routes that are appropriate for your dog's age, fitness level, and temperament. I typically walk in quiet local streets, parks, and dog-friendly green spaces where dogs can enjoy new sights and smells without becoming overwhelmed.
I pay close attention to weather conditions, pavement temperatures, and any potential hazards during walks. If I encounter situations that may make a dog uncomfortable, such as busy traffic, unfamiliar dogs, or crowded areas, I always prioritise moving to a calmer environment.
Keeping you updated
I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your dog, so communication is something I take seriously. Along with photo updates, I'll let you know how your dog's walk went, including anything notable such as behaviour, energy levels, toileting, or any concerns I think you should be aware of. My goal is for you to feel completely confident that your dog is safe, happy, and well cared for while they're with me.
