Hello! I grew up with dogs as part of the family, and have owned one cat as an adult. It's been very rare for a pet to not be around at home. I first started pet-sitting while studying at Uni in 2016. Since then I have looked after many many dogs, from tiny dachshunds to large rottweilers, one-dog families to four-dog families with chickens and cows. I've fed many cats, given scratches to a few rats and let a few reptiles laze around on my shoulder. A couple of my favourites have been: Labrador brothers Chocky and Billy, who I walked weekly for a couple of years until they moved to a large property outside of Brisbane. While the walks had to stop, I was lucky enough to stay on as a sitter and run around and swim with the pups for a few years after that whenever their owner was away. Chocky has since passed and Billy has an aunt living nearby these days, but their owner stays in touch and I look forward to another swim with Billy one day. Border collie and labrador siblings, Jenny, Addie, Frankie and Misty, all of who were living out a dream doggy retirement on a rural block in the GC hinterland. I would dog-sit for weeks at a time, taking the dogs for a swim and a game of fetch in the creek. The dogs would love getting toweled off and joining me on my yoga mat. I haven't dog sat for a while since their human parents have been home looking after their first child. I have been working as an ecologist for the last 10 years, and as a senior ecologist and environmental scientist for the last few. I volunteer with and co-lead some landcare projects, which continue to be hugely successful. I do not curently own any pets, largely because I have not been at home enough. I live in a ground-floor apartment with my partner. We have a large living space, a balcony and open grass at the front and the river across the road, which is perfect for walking along or swimming. Anytime my parents dog visits, we spend hours in the water. At this stage I am fairly flexible with the particulars of any services offered. I am confident in my ability to look after almost any cat or dog. I am also confident in handling and care of reptiles, rodents and birds. I have also looked after cows, horses and chickens. I have given medication to cats and dogs. I myself have diabetes, so I understand the importance of medication. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. I look forward to meeting you and your pet.
