About Ali
Hi, I’m Ali. I recently moved to Hobart and I’m now based in Sandy Bay.
Although I’m new to offering pet care professionally through Pawshake, I have plenty of personal experience living with and caring for animals. I lived with an Alaskan Malamute for around three and a half years, so I’m comfortable around large, strong dogs and understand the importance of calm handling, regular exercise and consistent routines.
I have also lived with cats on two different occasions and have shared homes with several other cats and dogs over the years. At different times, I’ve taken responsibility for feeding them, walking the dogs, keeping their water fresh, spending time with them and looking after them when their owners were unavailable. The photos on my profile show some of the animals I’ve genuinely spent time with over the years.
I know that trusting someone new with your pet and your home is a big decision. That’s why I prefer to arrange a free meet and greet before the first booking. This gives me time to learn about your pet’s personality, routine, feeding instructions, walking habits and any medical or behavioural needs. More importantly, it gives your pet a chance to meet me while you are there.
I currently offer dog walking, home visits and house sitting. A standard walk or home visit will last at least 30 minutes unless we agree on something different beforehand. I currently provide individual walks rather than taking a large group of unfamiliar dogs out together, so your dog receives my full attention.
During home visits, I can help with feeding, fresh water, playtime, litter trays, basic cleaning related to your pet and any other agreed parts of their normal routine. I’ll follow your instructions carefully and send photos with a short update after every walk or visit.
I understand that every animal is different. Some pets are comfortable with new people immediately, while others need time and personal space. I’m patient with shy or cautious animals and won’t try to force interaction.
Before the booking, I’ll ask for your regular vet’s details, an emergency contact and clear instructions about what you would like me to do if something unexpected happens. If your pet becomes unwell, is injured or behaves unusually, I will contact you immediately. If urgent veterinary attention is needed and I cannot reach you, I will follow the emergency plan we agreed on and contact your nominated vet or the nearest emergency veterinary clinic.
I’m currently welcoming new clients in Sandy Bay and nearby Hobart suburbs. Feel free to message me with a little information about your pet, the service you need and your preferred dates. We can then arrange a free, no-pressure meet and greet.
