About Anju

Hello Everyone,

My name is Anju and I am in my early 30’s living with my husband and 5 years 8 months old fur baby Saber. I have now lived in Australia for 12years and my family and friends call me the “crazy dog lady”. I have been passionate about animals especially dogs since I was a baby as I have grown up amongst dogs and cats. I was born in Mauritius where life is not very easy when it comes to animals. I still have vivid memories of stray dogs roaming on the street and literally begging for food.

I have a very special story that I would like to share with you guys. When I was 14 years old, my sister and myself saw 2 puppies on the side of the road and our parents said no to more dogs as we already had 4 that we were looking after. We came home that day and kept thinking of the 2 puppies and decided that we would ride our bicycles to go and pick them up without our parents’ knowledge. We took a basket each and rod our bicycles to where they were and brought them back home with us. The puppies were brother and sister. Scared that our parents would see them, we decided to hide them under our beds and spent the night feeding them milk. Of course, the next morning when mom walked in our bedroom, she could smell the wee of the puppies and we got caught. I am pleased to say that our parents decided to keep them. Knowing that we were able to rescue them from the street and was able to feed them, give them love and attention has brought an inner satisfaction to us. Spike, the brother passed away in 2017 and Spiky the sister, who is blind and partly deaf is under the care of mom and she is 18 years old. I go back to Mauritius every year to visit her as I know she does not have much longer with us anymore. Thanks to advanced technology, I am also able to see her via video call nearly every day.

Coming back to me. I am a very kind, respectful, friendly person, and most of all an animal lover. My fur baby means the world to me. As I mentioned before, I live with my husband who is also a massive dog lover. I offer the services of doggie day care and dog boarding at my place. I have a big backyard which is fully fenced and a security gate so pooches cannot get to the main gate. My husband and myself have the flexibility of working from home therefore we have the benefit of having someone to be with the pooches at home.

We try and take 2 pooches at a time except for Xmas time when it can get very busy with many people away. All pooches sleep only inside the house. Unfortunately, we do not accept dogs that are used to sleep outside for security purposes. All pooches have access to the house, our main deck which is pretty spacious and they are allowed on the couch and bed. We also have play mats set up for them in the lounge where they have space to play inside if they would like. We would treat your pooch the same way as we treat our pooch unless you have strict instructions not to do so.

We include 2 walks in our routine and they are both weather dependent as we try to avoid walks on super windy days due to the high risk of branches failing over. All walks are conducted on a leash with high supervision and if we happen to go to a park, it is always to a fully fenced park and we try to avoid busy times. As we have quite a big backyard, sometimes, the pooches are too tired from playing and do not require a walk. This is decided based on the level of heat on the day and also from how tired the pooches are.

Let’s talk a bit about my pooch. Saber is cross Pomeranian and Japanese spitz. He is very clam in nature and loves to make friends. When he first sees your pooch, he might get very excited and would want to know his new friend. He can spend a lot of time playing with his new friend however he also understands that he needs to give his friends their space if need be. Saber is white with lots of fluff – he is literally like a ball of fluff and a small breed. Saber isn’t a jealous type as we have always had pooches coming over for boarding and he understands that he needs to behave. Saber has plenty of toys which is always happy to share with his friends.

Things that we ask you to bring along with your pooch are: Meals, bowls, treats if they normally have any, bed, leash, collar with a tag, a harness is always preferable for their security when walking them.

We offer fresh water, fresh carrots, celery or broccoli as a snack and most of all we offer plenty of love, heaps of cuddles, tons of affection and a million of kisses.

We also help the shelters in Mauritius by providing them funds for food, medical cost and other expenses with part the money that we raise through pet sitting.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you think we are the ones that you would choose to look after your fur baby.

Love,

Anju, Saber and Iskur
