We are Rebeka and Kaja, a calm, compassionate couple who have spent the past year and a half travelling across Australia while caring for pets and homes. We have 15+ years of experience caring for animals through our own family pets, Workaway placements in Europe and our Australian pet sits. Caring for animals has been a natural part of our lives since childhood and continues to be one of our greatest joys.

❤️ Why We Love Pet & House Sitting

Since we cannot have pets of our own right now, pet and house sitting has become a truly meaningful part of our lives. It allows us to stay connected with animals, to feel at home wherever we go, and to build genuine bonds with the pets we care for. For us, this is much more than a practical arrangement — it’s something that brings us joy, routine, grounding, and a sense of purpose.

Every pet we look after receives calm, gentle, loving attention, and we always aim to make them feel completely safe and relaxed while their humans are away. We know how hard it is to leave your pets behind, so our focus is always on giving you peace of mind and giving your pets comfort, companionship, and stability.

🐾 Our Experience Caring for Animals

Our experience spans many years, countries, breeds, personalities, and needs. Our pet sits have ranged from short weekend stays to long-term sits of up to two months, and we are highly reliable for both short and extended care.

We have cared for:

Large breeds:

Great Dane, Spanish Alano, German Shepherds, Groodles, Labradors, and other strong, high-energy mixes.

Medium breeds:

English Staffy, Whippet, rescue Kelpies, Hound mixes, and other medium-sized active breeds.

Small breeds:

Bichon Frise/Poodle, Maltese/Shih Tzu, West Highland Terrier, and other small breeds.

Cats:

Bengals, rescues, shy and anxious cats, senior cats, medication-dependent cats, and many affectionate family cats.

We understand canine body language, stress signals, and comfort zones, and we adapt our approach to each dog’s temperament—including senior dogs who may need a gentler pace and extra support—whether they are energetic, anxious, reactive, shy, or very affectionate.

We both grew up with cats and understand their subtle cues, personal boundaries, and emotional needs.

🐶 Medical, Behavioural & Special Needs Experience

Through our pet sits, we’ve gained hands-on experience with pets who need extra support, including:

Medical & senior care:

– IVDD, arthritis, and other mobility issues requiring adapted routines, lifting support, or mobility awareness
– Daily medication such as ear drops, eye drops, joint supplements, pain management, and other ongoing treatments
– Senior dogs and senior cats needing slower routines, gentle handling, extra bathroom breaks, and calm companionship
– Chronically ill pets requiring observation, routine consistency, and sensitive care
– Supporting pets through unexpected health declines (including assisting with a home vet visit and following vet guidance calmly and responsibly, providing sling-walk support when needed)

Reactive & anxious dogs:

– Dogs with leash reactivity, anxiety around other dogs, noise sensitivity, or strong trigger responses
– We support these dogs with calm, confident energy, maintain safe distances, follow structured walking routines, and help them feel secure without pressure or overstimulation
– We adapt to each dog’s temperament — whether energetic, anxious, reactive, shy, sensitive, or deeply affectionate

Other animals:

Chickens, fish, Mongolian gerbils, parrots, and even hand-feeding wild kookaburras.

A few years ago, before coming to Australia, we travelled around Europe through Workaway, caring for dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, and rural properties.

We both grew up in animal-loving households, Kaja with cats and parrots, and Rebeka with cats, a Siberian Husky, mix breed dogs, gerbils, fish, and stick insects, so caring for animals has always been part of our everyday lives.

🏡 House Sitting & Property Care

We take home care as seriously as pet care. We are tidy, organised, and respectful sitters who naturally maintain a clean and calm home environment. Over the past 10 years of living together, we’ve rented multiple homes and always kept them clean and well-maintained.

Through Workaway and house sitting, we’ve also cared for rural properties, helped with gardening, basic maintenance, and keeping both indoor and outdoor areas tidy. We are non-smokers.

🌿 A Little More About Us

Kaja has an MA in Cultural Studies and worked in marketing and sales before moving to Australia. Rebeka has a BSc in Biology and over four years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry. We love hiking, swimming, nature, travelling, and the quiet companionship of animals. We are homebodies at heart and genuinely enjoy spending time at home with the animals in our care, keeping them company and maintaining calm routines.
