In home pet sitting services are a great way to break up the day and enrich it for your pet. Our sitters will treat your home with respect and are flexible with timing, requests and durations. All this can be discussed before you make a home visit booking.

Pet boarding is a great option for when you are away for a few days and your pet needs overnight care. Unlike pet hotels, Pawshake pet boarding allows you to arrange a personalised daily routine for your pet, whether this be extra belly rubs, playtime or 24 hour supervision. Your pet will stay with the pet sitter in a cosy home environment, rather than a large, impersonal pet hotel.

So whether you need just one day, a week or even a month, you’ll be able to find an experienced pet or dog carer to accommodate you and your pet’s needs in Downer ACT. The best part is that your Pawshake pet sitter is from your local neighbourhood, so they will be familiar with the area.

Our pet carers also have a range of experiences which include puppies, seniors, nervous pets and dog training. So if your pet has special requirements, you’ll be sure to find a pet sitter that is a good match for you.

Your pet’s safety and welfare is a big priority for us, which is why all of our Pawshake pet sitters undergo a strict vetting process by our trust and safety team. At Pawshake, we understand that you might feel a little uneasy allowing a pet sitter to enter your home or arranging pet boarding at their place. This is why Pawshake pet sitters also have reviews from other pet parents that are publicly available on their profile for you to read.

Each pet sitting home visit and pet boarding booking made through Pawshake is covered by the Pawshake Guarantee, which includes veterinary coverage, customer support 7 days a week and more. Rest easy knowing that your pets will be well looked after by one of our expert pet carers in Downer ACT.

I am responsible, friendly, and get along well with people and pets. I have not had any reviews yet because it's my first time on the platform, and I just returned from overseas. I have written references and a police check (WWVP card) available if you like.
Pet sitting is as much about letting someone trustworthy into your home, someone who will respect your place and possessions, as it is about taking proper care of your much loved pet. I am sincere about caring for your pet, will follow instructions closely and enjoy having him/her as company. I enjoy the company of pets and I like to give dogs a proper walk. I am formerly a dog owner but don't currently have a dog or cat. My dog passed away a few years ago and I have been living overseas since. I returned to Canberra recently to take up residence here again. I'm not the type to invite people over or have parties, and am happy to keep the garden in check if requested.
My major is in biology, then I switched career to university teaching. I periodically work with animals on a farm in Hall, and have professional references available from work if requested. I have 9 months petsitting experience during covid, caring for two cats, and did a lot of petsitting for an elderly couple in O'Connor some years ago (Poodle from a refuge- it needed some love and training). I have from time to time looked after pets for friends, walking them regularly and preparing specific foods (often cooked) as requested.
I am comfortable with dogs of all sizes and temperaments, cats, reptiles, stock animals, fish etc, including administering medication such as tablets, eye drops, injections . I look forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to care for your pet when you are away.
Kind regards,
Nicholas W.

We are passionate animal lovers, and caring for pets is genuinely one of the happiest parts of our week.
My son and I share our home with two cats of our own, and we’ve had the joy of completing several pet sits in the past.
Although our current profile lists “cats only” for drop-in visits, we are very experienced with dogs and other animals as well. We’re always open to adjusting our availability and the types of pets we care for as we grow our little pet-sitting journey.
I will be the primary carer during all visits, ensuring pets are safe, comfortable, and well looked after, while my son joins me as a gentle, caring helper. He absolutely loves animals, treats them with respect, and enjoys earning a little pocket money through helping out.
We would be honoured to care for your beloved pets as if they were our own.

Hello,
I was raised with a love of animals and pets, my family owning 3 cats (Fin/Remi/Pied), 2 dogs (Tilly/Boo), lots of chickens, peacocks, and, most recently, a baby magpie (Chibi). Growing up in a family mostly composed of animals has taught me about the importance of pets in an individual's life.
My care and love for animals have only grown in the last few years, with my cat losing a leg, our rooster (Mr Bojangles) getting sick, and the rehabilitation of a baby magpie.
I have a lot of experience house sitting and caring for friends' pets over the years.
From German Shepherds to rescue shelter cats. I provide dog walking, pet visiting and pet sitting.
I always go the extra mile to make the pets and humans happy.
It takes a responsible, patient, and loving person to care for your special friend, and I believe I have all the skills to provide that.

Hi, I’m Caitlin! I’m an Australian National University student and a huge animal lover. I have three cats of my own, so I know how much our pets become part of the family and how important it is to know they’re being looked after properly when you’re away. I’m used to different personalities, routines and needs to keep up with, and I enjoy spending time with animals.
I’m available for dog walks, home visits and pet sitting. For home visits, I can take care of feeding, fresh water, litter trays, playtime, cuddles and anything else your pet needs as part of their normal routine. I’m also happy to spend some extra time with them so they aren’t left feeling lonely. Dog walks can be around 30–60 minutes, depending on your dog and what they’re comfortable with.
I’m happy to care for cats and dogs, and I’m open to looking after other pets depending on their needs. I’ll always follow your instructions and take the time to understand your pet’s routine before you head away.
I’m reliable, patient and easy to communicate with. I’ll also send you photos and updates while you’re away, because I know I’d want to know how my own pets were doing! Most importantly, I’ll treat your pets with the same care and attention I’d want someone to give mine.

Hi there! My name is Adarsh, and I am a local student here in Lawson with a deep passion for animal care. Currently, I am studying a Diploma of Community Services, which has instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility, patience, and a genuine desire to support those in my community—whether they have two legs or four! My motivation for becoming a pet sitter is simple: I understand that pets are cherished family members, and their well-being is paramount. I want to offer pet owners in our area the peace of mind that their companions are being looked after by someone who is not only reliable and punctual but also deeply caring. I take great pride in being organized and trustworthy, ensuring that every pet I look after receives attentive care, plenty of enrichment, and lots of love. While I am building my experience, I am confident in my ability to follow specific care routines, handle different temperaments, and provide a safe, nurturing environment for your pet. Whether it’s a refreshing walk, dedicated playtime, or simply checking in on them while you are away, I am committed to treating your pet with the same kindness I would my own.Regarding my home environment, I prioritize safety and health for all pets. To ensure a comfortable experience, I only accept pets that are up-to-date with their vaccinations. I am more than happy to arrange a "meet and greet" before any booking so we can make sure your pet feels completely at ease with me. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friend soon!

Having always grown up with animals around in my family, and an (unrealised) childhood dream of becoming a vet, I love any opportunity to care for pets. While I don’t have one myself at the moment, I come from a family of both dog and cat lovers (you don’t have to love only one of them!) and have experience training my family dog up from a young kelpie puppy to a well-trained adult dog.
Overall, I have plenty experience caring for and walking dogs, although I have minimal experience doing this as a ‘job’. As I don't have a dog right now, due to living arrangements, I would love the chance to walk and care for other dogs.
I'm flexible for timings across Friday-Sunday, am a reliable, kind and caring person to all pets alike, and am adaptable to whatever care needs your dog requires.
The opportunity to walk or care for your dog, small or big, young or old, would be my pleasure!
