I adore animals and will do my utmost to love and care for your beloved kitty/kitties - as well as fish, birds, guinea pigs and reptiles. I love pet-sitting so much - enjoying kitty company, admiring their photos and talking with their owners about their fur babies.
Pet-sitting experience:
I’m a reliable, caring and adaptable pet-sitter. My pet-sitting experience includes cats, chooks, frogs, birds, fish, guinea pigs, mice, lizards, even snails and worm farms! As my parents had an elderly cat, I also have experience applying topical flea medicine. Since I appreciate that all ‘puddy tats’ have their own personalities and likes/dislikes I'm happy to adapt to your pets’ needs as long as they are indoor-only cats.
My background:
I’m a loving, friendly, reliable, mature-aged, non-smoking, former senior manager in the IT industry and public sector. Now I work part-time in policy and strategy consulting and volunteering for disability charities. Before becoming an Aussie citizen, I grew up with 2 cats in Canada. Although I love cats, I get a bit sneezy if I live with kitties 24/7 so I don't have my own fur babies. Fortunately, I'm purrfectly fine with home visits so have been pet-sitting via Pawshake since October 2019.
As I have worked/studied in over 7 countries as well as had conducted diversity training, I am highly adaptable to different pet owners' preferences and home arrangements. I welcome cat owners from a variety of occupational, cultural/linguistic, disability, sexual orientation and religious backgrounds and am very discreet about my clients. I am a native English speaker who also speaks basic Japanese and basic (Mandarin) Chinese.
Pet safety:
I understand the responsibility involved in cat-sitting, particularly sticking to your kitty's/kitties' care routines to help them be happy, comfortable and secure – and to enable you to relax while away. As I value clear communication, I am very thorough in discussing pet care and safety needs and write a lot of notes during the Meet and Greet.
Since I'd worked in 2019/2020 in disaster preparation planning, I go over pet emergency arrangements and scenarios with you as well as provide you with regular updates while you are away. And if in doubt about anything, I err on the side of caution. I recommend RSPCA QLD's pet safety kit for emergencies and natural disasters.
I am especially careful about adhering to public safety requirements. I've had my 5th COVID jab and get flu vaxxed every year. As an extra public health safety precaution, I wear a face mask during Meet and Greets and wear latex gloves when cleaning kitty litter trays.
Services:
I provide home visits (not house-sitting/overnight stays) for indoor cats and my services include feeding, making sure your cats have lots of water, cleaning up after them and of course, providing them with tons of affection (as they require–I appreciate that some cats prefer their space).
While you’re away, I would be more than happy to email you updates and photos of how your fur-babies are doing. I can also collect your mail, water plants and put bins out if you’d like.
Plus, to help reduce waste and environmental impacts, I collect and dispose of Royal Canin pet food packaging at local TerraCycle collection points.
Availability:
Visits last at least 30 minutes. If your cat(s) want more company, I can possibly visit longer, pending my availability.
Preferred cat-sitting and Meet and Greet times are between 8am and 6pm - other times may be possible.

Thank you Ilan for taking such wonderful care of my cat Peta. Just knowing you’re looking after her so well gives me peace of mind when I’m away. She is always so happy and healthy when I arrive home. I enjoy the pictures and updates too! Thank you!
Fantastic sitter. She was very reliable, attentive and went above and beyond to ensure our cats were well looked after on our extended Holliday. It gave us peace of mind.
