Friendly, reliable, kitty-carer. High cat satisfaction
Coorparoo
About Ilan
I adore animals and will do my utmost to love and care for your beloved kitty/kitties. I specialise in cat home-visits only and my high customer satisfaction rates reflect my dedication to attentive kitty care, comfort, and safety.
Pet-sitting experience:
I’m a reliable, caring, and adaptable pet-sitter. My pet-sitting experience includes cats, dogs, chooks, frogs, birds, fish, guinea pigs, mice, lizards, even snails and worm farms! As my parents had an elderly cat, I also have experience applying topical flea medicine, oral medicine, and cats with dementia. Since I appreciate that all ‘puddy tats’ have their own personalities and likes/dislikes I'm happy to adapt to your pets’ needs as long as they are indoor-only cats.
My background:
I'm a loving, friendly, reliable, mature-aged, non-smoking, former senior manager in the IT industry and public sector. Now I work part-time in policy and strategy consulting and volunteering for charities. Before becoming an Aussie citizen, I grew up with 2 cats in Canada.
As I have worked/studied in over 7 countries as well as had conducted diversity training, I am highly adaptable to different pet owners' preferences and home arrangements. I welcome cat owners from a variety of occupational, cultural/linguistic, disability, sexual orientation, and religious backgrounds and am very discreet about my clients. I am a native English speaker who also speaks basic Japanese and basic (Mandarin) Chinese.
Pet and home safety:
I understand the responsibility involved in cat-sitting, particularly sticking to your kitty's/kitties' care routines to help them be happy, comfortable and secure – and to enable you to relax while away. As I value clear communication, I am very thorough in discussing pet care and safety needs, write a lot of notes during the Meet and Greet, and respond as quickly as possible to both pet owners and their pets' needs.
And if in doubt about anything, I err on the side of caution to support your pets' and home security as best as possible, especially since I'm a Neighbourhood Watch member.
Natural disaster preparation
Since I'd worked in 2019/2020 in disaster preparation planning, I go over pet emergency arrangements and scenarios with you as well as provide you with regular updates while you are away. I recommend RSPCA QLD's pet safety kit for emergencies and natural disaster preparations.
Kitty heat stress risk reduction
To avoid risks of your kitties getting heat stress in the uncertain climate, I highly urge pet owners to have air conditioning in their homes, especially if there isn't any insulation. During the hot summer months, I am unlikely to accept bookings due to cat heat stress risks.
Public health
I am especially careful about adhering to public safety requirements and get vaxxed every year to minimise risks of transmitting respiratory infections to pets, as per the RSPCA and USA's Centers for Disease Control information. As an extra public health safety precaution, I am open to wearing a face mask during Meet and Greets, if you require, and wear latex gloves when cleaning kitty litter trays. I ask that all pet owners provide a poop scoop for their kitties' litter trays.
Services:
I provide home visits (not house-sitting/overnight stays) for indoor cats only and my services include feeding, making sure your cats have lots of water, cleaning up after them and of course, providing them with tons of affection (as they require–I appreciate that some cats prefer their space).
While you’re away, I would be more than happy to email you updates and photos of how your fur-babies are doing. I can also collect your mail, water plants and put bins out if you’d like. Plus, to help reduce waste and environmental impacts, I can collect and dispose of Royal Canin pet food packaging at local TerraCycle collection points.
Availability and pet-sitting duration options:
My standard visits are 30 minutes per visit. I also offer longer, 60-minute visit options by using Pawshake's 'Add-on services' feature to add an extra $15/visit to the standard price listed in my profile.
Preferred cat-sitting and Meet and Greet times are between 8am and 6pm - other times may be possible.
Since I only have limited availability, priority will be given to cat-owners, particularly my repeat clients, in the below-listed suburbs nearest to Coorparoo, especially during peak holiday seasons. Best to check my Pawshake calendar to see my latest availability. Sorry - I don't provide house-sitting, dog-sitting, or holds for tentative bookings/enquiries.
Priority suburbs: Camp Hill, Carina, Coorparoo, East Brisbane, Greenslopes/Stones Corner, Holland Park and Norman Park. Other suburbs may also be possible and may incur an extra charge per visit for the additional travel time/expenses.
If you need someone to love your kitties and ensure that they’re safe and happy, please feel free to contact me. I’m happy to provide references.
