Hi, I’m Kaz: lover of animals and constant seeker of furry cuddles. I’m a lifelong Cairns local, and I offer overnight housesitting in your home as well as drop-in visits. WHO I AM I’m mature, responsible, clean, and very respectful of the belongings and privacy of others. I’m sensitive to pet personalities and understand that sometimes the shy ones need a little patience while they warm up to you, whereas others will enthusiastically adopt any new playmate. There’s a lot of trust involved in leaving your pets and house in someone else’s care. I take this responsibility seriously and will carefully follow your instructions and guidelines. I’ve looked after the houses and fur babies of multiple friends and acquaintances here in Cairns, and I’ve always been asked to return and/or received unsolicited referrals. Before I ever signed up to a petsitting website, all of my sits came to me via word of mouth. A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to spend 12 months looking after homes and pets in Europe. Since returning to Australia, I’ve continued to housesit full-time and have now completed more than 25 sits, all with glowing references. Prior to petsitting I used to volunteer at the local RSPCA shelter to help socialise the younger cats and provide company to the older ones. I’m very comfortable with cats and dogs, having grown up with them (as well as birds, Guinea pigs, mice, chooks and cows at different times!). I have no pets of my own so I’m always looking for other people’s animals to shower affection upon. WHAT I OFFER Overnight housesitting: I stay in your home so your pets get to stay in safe and familiar surroundings and your house is lived in. Most of the time I can work remotely from your home, which means plenty of company for your fur baby. I take care of meals, fresh water, bowls and litter trays, play and cuddles, and any medication, and I send photos and updates during the stay. I’ll also bring in the mail, put the bins out and water your plants, and leave your home as I found it. The nightly rate covers up to three pets, and each additional pet is +$10 a night. I generally only accept stays of a week or more. Drop-in visits: Each visit is 30 minutes. I’ll feed your pets, refresh their water, wash up bowls, clean litter trays, spend time playing and cuddling, give any medication, check the house, and text you an update with photos. The visit rate covers up to three pets, and each additional pet is +$10 a visit. For locations more than a 10 km drive from the Cairns CBD, a travel add-on may be applied, to be discussed before booking. Medication: I can administer pills, oral liquids by syringe, and spot-on flea, worm and tick treatments. I don’t give injections. What I don’t offer: I don’t board animals at my place and I don’t offer dog walks. Holidays: A 20% holiday loading applies over Christmas/New Year and Easter.
