Hi, My name is Gus, and I’m an Australian travelling around the US. I’ve grown up around dogs and cats and have also owned lizards and other small pets. I’m using this app because it gives me the opportunity to experience different parts of the US while helping owners make sure their pets are well cared for while they’re away. At home, I have a 15-year-old golden retriever–poodle and a 17-year-old tabby cat, so I’m very familiar with both animals and the extra patience and attention that older pets need. My dog has some ongoing conditions, including dry eyes and sore spots, and I regularly manage these alongside giving him different medications. This has given me firsthand experience with the consistency, care and attention that older pets sometimes require. Growing up on different sides of the family, I’ve also spent plenty of time around Staffies, Labradors, German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers, so I’m familiar with a range of dog breeds and personalities. I’m young, fit and active, and enjoy getting outdoors, so I’d be more than happy to keep up with energetic dogs, go for walks and make sure pets get plenty of exercise and attention. I’m also easygoing, responsible and adaptable, and feel comfortable settling into new environments and following different household routines. Ideally, I’d be looking after pets that need feeding in the morning and afternoon, with other care arranged around their usual routine. I’m flexible with my schedule and can be home throughout the day whenever needed, whether that’s for walks, company, medication or simply keeping your pet comfortable in their familiar environment.
