Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Newcastle NSW home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Newcastle NSW.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Newcastle NSW home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hey there, Laura here - your dog's next potential BFF. I am a pet sitter, a dog walker, and animal enthusiast. I used to dog walk and dog sit during my uni years, and I'm now looking for a new excuse to get my steps up.
Growing up, I had plenty of dogs and cats to love over the years, and find it easy to bond with animals big or small. I'm not afraid to take your big dogs on walks, I've worked previously with huskies, staffies and weimaraners who have been very energetic and needed longer walks. I've also worked with corgis, chihuahuas and older dogs, so I can take my time with those that need it.
I am able to pet sit at your accommodation for your date nights and weekend outings, or if you have a longer absence. I am now an owner of two delightful cats so unfortunately I can't pet sit at my own house, however I am well versed in the dynamics of cats and kittens, so I'd be a great pick for cat sitting too.
If you have any queries feel free to message me, I am usually very quickly to respond.

Hi, I’m Frances,

I’ve been a proud dog owner since I was a child and have shared my life with Labradors, a Kelpie X, a Great Dane and, most recently, a Bull Arab. Caring for dogs has always been a big part of my life, and over the years I’ve gained experience with different breeds, sizes and personalities. Although I don’t currently have a pet of my own, I truly miss having animals around and would love the opportunity to care for yours as if they were part of my own family.

I’ve also looked after friends’ dogs in my home while they were away, as our dogs were friends and enjoyed spending time together. This has given me experience caring for pets with different routines and needs in a safe, loving environment.

I know every pet has their own routine, so I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, exercise, medication and any special requirements. I also like to send daily updates with photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your pet is happy, safe and well cared for while you’re away.

I believe good communication is essential, so before every booking I make sure I understand your pet’s routine, personality and any emergency information, including your preferred veterinarian and who you would like contacted if anything unexpected were to happen. Hopefully those situations never arise, but I believe it’s important to be prepared and to act responsibly if they do.

Whether I’m caring for a dog, cat or another beloved pet, my goal is always the same: to provide a safe, calm and loving environment where they feel comfortable, secure and treated like one of my own.

I am a 34 year old Chilean 'young man' who has lived around dogs all life, however, I came to Australia and don't intend to have any pets yet, so I miss the feeling of walking, playing and running with them. I enjoy being around any kind of dogs, but have more experience with bigger size breeds. I also have the ability to go out with more than one if necessary. I usually have good chemistry with dogs I haven't met before and I feel like I understand their need really well. I love to go for a jog with them or just going for a chill walk so they can enjoy the outdoor and release some energy. If you want your dog to go out to enjoy and be in good hands do not hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to coordinate and have both a great experience. Previous experience: With my own dogs (x6 I can give medication (pils) to dogs.
I prefer morning walks/runs or at night (5am-7:30am or after 18:00)
I would go to any close Parks or walks along the Beach, depending on location. Preferable Newcastle East - Merewether Walks. 30min to 1 hour walk, depending on the dog's energy.
Cheers,Luis

Hi, I’m Megan! I’m a huge animal lover and have been surrounded by pets all my life. Growing up I cared for dogs, cats, and rabbits, so looking after furry friends has always come naturally to me. I’ve also spent time working with horses, so I’m very comfortable around animals of all sizes and temperaments.

I’m based in Merewether and offer local dog walks, drop-in visits, and house/pet sitting, with a wider travel radius. I work full-time during the week, so I’m best suited to evening visits and have more flexibility on weekends.

I understand every pet has their own personality and routine, and I always try to keep things as consistent as possible so they feel comfortable and settled in my care. Whether that’s walks, playtime, feeding, or just some extra company and cuddles, I’m happy to adapt to whatever your pet needs.

I’m also happy to send photo updates while you’re away so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and well looked after. I treat every home and pet with the same care and respect as my own.

Perfect for busy schedules, weekend plans, or time away — I offer a calm, reliable, and low-stress service you can trust.

I’d love to meet you and your furry babies

Hi, I’m Mollie, a passionate dog lover and proud owner of a 15-month-old Labrador named Larrie I work from home, which means I’m fully flexible and available to give your dog plenty of attention, exercise, and care. I’m reliable, patient, and dedicated to making sure every pup feels safe and loved while in my care. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your dog, so I make sure every walk, visit, or stay is safe, fun, and tailored to their needs. Whether it’s social playtime, a relaxed stroll, or a beach adventure, I’ll treat your dog like one my own—making sure they’re happy, comfortable, and well looked after while you’re away. I’m happy to follow any routines or special instructions, whether your dog needs extra exercise, medication, or just a bit of extra love and reassurance. I’m also confident with energetic dogs and enjoy getting them out for walks, playtime, and fresh air. Regular updates and photos can be provided so you can feel at ease knowing your dog is in good hands.

Hello,

I am a 26 y/0 woman from England very much so missing her pets! I would love to take care of those and give back. I am very sporty and love being outdoors so if your pets are keen for little trips to the beach to splash in the ocean or the woods for a good sniff I'm your girl!
I have two family dogs at home in England, a chihuahua named peanut and our oldest dog George, a fabulous jack russel who is the ripe old age of 17 and currently travelling Europe with my sister! I trained both dogs from puppies and have a keen knack for it. My dogs are trained so that they do not need a leash to be walked.
I love all animals and looking after my siblings pets and my friends has always been in my best interests to spend quality time with all walks of furry friends!
I first came to Australia to be a live in au pair, I love helping others and am grateful for every opportunity I have been given!
Informing you when I have arrived at the property to great your pets is a must and when I leave to that you can be assured that they have been taken care of! Happy to provide photographs if needed
I understand that every pet is different and aim to treat each pet accordingly with their personality! Any dietary or health needs to be discussed prior to ensure the best quality care.
I hope you pick me, your pets would be in the bestest care.

Hi, I'm Afshin, an animal lover with a professional background in Animal Science and a genuine passion for animal care and welfare. I have many years of experience working with and caring for different animals, which has given me a strong understanding of animal behaviour, wellbeing, and individual needs. In addition to my academic background, I have completed animal Care Levels 1 and 2, covering animal ethics, welfare standards, and proper animal handling (including different pet animals). I have also attended several animal welfare workshops to further develop my knowledge of responsible and compassionate pet care.
I offer pet sitting in your home, house sitting, home visits, and dog walking services. Whether your pet needs feeding, exercise, medication administration, playtime, or simply companionship while you're away, I will provide attentive and personalised care based on their usual routine. I understand that every pet is different, and I take the time to build trust and ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed in their familiar environment.
I am reliable, responsible, and communicative, and I understand how important it is for owners to have peace of mind while they are away. During bookings, I provide regular updates, photos, and messages so you can stay connected with your pet and know they are being well cared for.
I am comfortable caring for dogs, cats, and other small pets, and I am happy to follow detailed instructions regarding feeding schedules, exercise requirements, medications, and any special needs. My goal is to provide a safe, caring, and stress-free experience for both pets and their owners.
I look forward to meeting you and your lovely family members!

Hello :) I'm Louisa, in my early 30s, and originally from Germany. After completing my Master's degree (Global Health) in Sweden, I moved to Australia with my partner about a year ago and have been able to gather ample of pet sitting experience.
I primarily offer pet care in the home of pet owners and therefore enjoy walking dogs in their familiar surroundings. This maintains routines, so the dogs feel safe and can enjoy their familiar paths and favourite places.
I lived with my own dog for over 13 years. She was a rescue and a beloved family member to me. Through her, I learned not only about the daily care but also the responsibility and patience required to provide an animal with a happy life.
During my travels, I was also able to gain valuable practical experience: In Romania, I worked at an animal shelter and a clinic for dogs and cats, in Spain, I helped at a dog rescue center, and in Malaysia, I supported a cat rescue. My duties there included administering medication, bottle feeding, and providing intensive care for sick and young animals.
In addition, I took on numerous pet-sitting assignments last year, including around 20 multi-day assignments in Australia – many of them for recurring clients.
I am excited to expand this network through Pawshake :)
