Top cities for house sitting in Australia

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Lawnton QLD home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Lawnton QLD.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Lawnton QLD home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

I am an experienced international house sitter and started in 2015 whereby over 50 house sits have been completed in the US, UK, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, all with 5-Star Reviews (computer date-stamped screenshots can be sent).
I am big on cats and dogs, they both sense my affection for them and come over to me straight away. People are always a bit amazed because they say "my dog usually barks at strangers for days!" or the cat is straight on my lap and usually goes into hiding. I have a few tricks with animals that make them feel non-threatened and relaxed :)
Anyway, I'm big on exercise, running the 5km parkruns weekly on Saturdays at 7:00 am so am always happy to get more walking in. I go at the best pace your dog can manage and your dog will come back and want to sleep after all the excitement. I'm very gentle with dogs because I like to let them "read" the messages in the ground if they stop to do so, this is all part of tiring them out, in my opinion and providing them with a full experience.
I'm strong so any size dog is fine and I've walked up to 3 dogs before but could easily manage more.
I grew up with cats and dogs on a farm in Africa so am very familiar with animal behaviour and can sense when something strange might happen or if a situation is not looking good. If your dog or cat has any behavioural issues I'm pretty good at 'tactfully' making suggestions that remedy the issue.
I've found that a lot of cat owners don't realize that cats require their water bowls to be cleaned out and refilled every day with fresh water, not just topped up. So I have to squeeze this into the conversation too at some stage because I care about the welfare of animals as a priority even if the owners feel a bit offended - they still need to know :)
I'm available at short notice too because I work from home but am always looking for a useful distraction especially if it involves a bit of exercise.
Thank you for considering me and reading this far!

Hi, my name is Mikhaila. I have had the absolute joy of owning and looking after pets my entire life. I currently have two dogs of my own a large mastiff cross and a small toy poodle cross. I have gone through the pet sitting cycle myself so I know what works well and what doesn't so this will allow me to meet all yours and your pets needs.
I have flexible availability as I work from home 4 days of the week which will allow me to give the dedicated care and love each pet requires.
I have experience administrating medication if this is required for your pet.
I offer pet sits at the owners homes, walks and day visits and can cater to most needs however unfortunately are unable to have pets stay at my home.
Thanks so much and I look forward to meeting you and your lovely pets.

Animal lover since birth, I have been around animals of all shapes and sizes for as long as I can remember. Alongside a dog I also own two horses and eight goats. I have been caring for pets on my own since age 14 living on a farm and have noticed animals have a natural trust in me that I wish to only build upon in my sitting and walking work. I have cared for family, friends and strangers pets previously with no problems at all as well as dogs from abuse and other rescue situations.
When booking with me, please let me know of any special needs, medications or behavioural differences your pets may have so I can give them the care they need tailored to them. I am happy to give updates to pet parents as often as you would like to ensure you have the peace of mind that your fur baby is happy and cared for at all times!
My goal is to make every interaction with your pets a positive one, as such I do not use dog parks due to the inherent risk of off-leash dogs and other hazards. I will happily run with energetic dogs however or work with pets in a private yard.
I am currently studying in the animal care field from home and work casually, so I am flexible with my hours on available days. I do not offer stays at my home at this time as I live in a small apartment building.

Hi, I'm Mayra, I'm 24 years old and I absolutely love animals! Growing up, I have always had animals in my life – dogs, cats, birds, fish and more. Since moving to Australia for my studies, I haven’t been able to have pets of my own and I really miss the companionship of a loyal friend! That’s where pet-sitting comes in. It’s an ideal way for me to earn a little extra money and to enjoy that special connection with animals too. It’s a win-win situation for me! I’m available in the evenings and on weekends to look after your fur-baby in the comfort of their own home, and I’m very flexible and happy to work around your specific requirements. I can stay for a few hours or the whole weekend, drop in for a visit or two, or take your pet for a walk – just let me know what you need, I'm here to help! If you’d like to book me in for pet-sitting (or arrange a meet-and-greet) please just drop me a message to discuss you and your pet’s needs and it will be my pleasure to take the very best care of them.

Hi! I’m a 20-year-old full-time student with a genuine love for animals and a strong interest in pet sitting. I’ve grown up around pets and currently have a high-energy kelpie named Blikkies and an adorable black cat called Loki, so I’m very comfortable caring for both dogs and cats with different personalities and needs. In the past, I’ve connected with pet owners through Facebook and have had a couple of regular dogs that I looked after, which helped me build trust and experience with routines like feeding, walking, playtime, and general care. You can meet some of the dogs I've previously sat for in the photos on my profile, as well as my own little ones. I’m always looking to meet new furry friends and their owners. I’m reliable, attentive, and always make sure animals feel safe, happy, and well cared for while their owners are away!

I am a human mum of 2 teenagers - an 18 year old girl and a 16.5 year old boy and was a dog mum of 1 old lady (18yr old Maltese shitzhu) Monte was our original baby and passed away 12 months ago
I have been a kids nurse for 25 + years but only work a few days a week now and would love to fill my other days with dog walking, dog sitting, just generally dog days!
I have lots of friends and family with animals and have dog sat for many of these friends with both overnight and week long stays and love spending time on the couch with my favourite paw friends
I am home a lot during the day and am happy to have dogs here or to come to peoples houses to be their pups minder
I try to stay active on my days off and go to the gym 3 mornings a week but would love to do something on my days off from the gym. I enjoy exercise and would love to include a dog into my weekly walks to encourage me to walk more/longer!
My roster changes weekly (the benefit of working as a shift worker in a hospital!) but I am happy to provide my availability a few weeks in advance (or book off time in the near future as able)

Hi I'm James

I’m a professional hairdresser by day and a passionate dog lover at heart. Pet sitting is my side business because I genuinely love spending time with dogs and being around animals. Having had dogs of my own in the past, I understand the responsibility, patience, and care they need every While
I’m newer to professional pet sitting, I bring real, hands-on experience from caring for my own pets — including walks, feeding routines, playtime, and creating a calm, loving environment. My career as a hairdresser has made me reliable, attentive to detail, and great at building trust, which I believe is just as important when caring for someone’s pet.

Your dog’s safety and wellbeing are always my priority. I only accept vaccinated pets and will always follow your instructions carefully to keep routines consistent and stress-free. You can count on me to treat your dog with kindness, patience, and plenty of affection. I'm happy to build trust with more nervous dogs but I am a bit tentative of dogs that may be nippy and or aggressive but I am happy to work and build the trust your pet needs.

I am willing to take your lil babies on 30 min walks and do drop on home visits to play with and feed if needed and will spend time playing with them too !

As owners of three gorgeous Burmese cats, we understand theimportance of cats staying at home instead of boarding at a cattery. We have foundthat cattery stays cause them great stress and expose them to viruses from otheranimals and illness from stress itself. Since discovering Pawshake, we exclusively use the service ourselves.
