Top cities for house sitting in Australia

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Figtree NSW home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Figtree NSW.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Figtree NSW home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hi! I'm Lulu. I'm a curious and compassionate person who loves animals and the outdoors. By day, I'm a librarian-turned-PhD researcher studying how libraries support rural communities across Australia. Outside of work, I love reading, spending time in nature and by the sea, camping, seeing live music or training for my first marathon. I'm reliable, patient and caring, and I'd love to make sure your pets feel safe, happy and cared for while you're away.
Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them is something I sincerely cherish. I have over 5 years of professional experience through Mad Paws, 15+ years caring for the pets of friends and family, and I currently volunteer with a local dog rescue. I grew up learning the importance of patience, positive reinforcement and building trust with every animal. We've always adopted rescues, so I'm experienced with anxious or traumatised animals and understand that every pet has different needs.
I'm currently completing my PhD remotely, which means I have a very flexible schedule and can spend plenty of time keeping your pet company (I'd love the company too!). Whether it's walks while you're at work, feeding, playtime, overnight house sitting or simply providing calm companionship throughout the day, I'll care for your pet as if they were my own. Owners often tell me their pets are happy, relaxed and settled after my visits. Building bonds with animals is the most rewarding part of pet sitting, and I'd love the opportunity to care for yours.

About MeI am an avid outdoorsman and dedicated dog enthusiast with a passion for keeping pups active and happy. Whether I’m hiking through mountain trails, navigating snowy terrain, or enjoying a quiet sunset, I believe life is better with a canine companion by my side. My lifestyle is built around physical activity and adventure, making me the perfect partner for dogs who have energy to burn and a love for the great outdoors. My Dog Caring Abilities:The majority of my dog care exposure comes from a rescue from the res in Canada who had lots of energy and not much patience for other dogs, always had to be seen as the boss. This has necessitated lots of patience and understanding. I have experience handling diverse breeds and temperaments, from gentle Bernese Mountain Dogs and loyal Labs to powerful Pitbulls and high-energy mixed breeds. I am comfortable managing multiple dogs at once and understand the importance of safety, whether we are on a rugged trail or a neighborhood stroll.I pride myself on being:Adaptable: I tailor every walk to your dog's fitness level and personality.Attentive: I prioritize safety and clear communication with owners.Active: Your dog will return home tired, happy, and well-cared for.*Let me know your situation, needs & budget so we can work out a deal that works for everybody! My schedule is unknown at the minute, will be working soon. I am willing to spend a few hours out with your dog as needed. As well as house visits or overnight stays.

Hi! We’re a friendly, reliable couple from Wollongong who love animals and enjoy house-sitting. We’ve grown up around pets—on farms and in homes—and have experience through other sites caring for cats and dogs. (referrences on request)
We’re clean, respectful, and treat every home like it’s our own.
In our spare time, we enjoy biking, walking, and checking out local cafés. and travelling. We’d love to care for your pets and home while you’re away, so you can relax knowing everything’s in good hands!
We’ve cared for a wide variety of cats and dogs, covering all ages, breeds, personalities, and dietary needs. We’re confident handling everything from small lap dogs to large breeds, and we enjoy keeping dogs active with regular walks tailored to their energy levels.
We’ve also cared for indoor-only cats who thrive on calm, consistent routines, and we understand the importance of creating a stress-free environment for them. Hello! We’re Elisa and Dion, an Australian–Canadian couple who divide our time between Montreal, the UK, and Australia.I’m a performer, and Dion is a comedian and bicycle mechanic. We’re both non-smokers, non-drinkers and live a varied and constant lifestyle! We love animals, enjoy exploring new places, and take great pride in caring for homes as if they were our own. With flexible schedules and experience living in different countries, we’re reliable, tidy, and happy to adapt to your pets' routines and your home's needs.
We love housesitting because it lets us live like locals, care for animals, and enjoy peaceful, homely environments while travelling. It's a meaningful way to explore the world and help others.
We've both come from households where our pets were our fur babies. We love dogs especially, and if we weren't on the move so much, we would love to have our own. In the meantime, we have to borrow some petting time!

I am a very friendly happy individual who absolutely adores animals. Ive looked after many dogs friends family & even customers at work! I have been recommended to others too. I love the outdoors, walking, hiking and cycling. My fiancé used to run a dog walking and boarding business, so I have an understanding of dog behaviour & communication, etc. I like to know about your dog before like a meet and greet i will ask about their commands, anything you want to keep up, are they good with other dogs. I will make sure that you and the dog will be comfortable with me.
I work a job Monday to Friday, so I am available at the weekends. Looking after dogs will never be a job for me because I really love doing it. I hope one day i will have a farm full of animals!
For dog walking, it'll be an hour, or if they are a little older, then half an hour. I will make sure they have a well-stimulated walk, including playing with sticks or throwing a ball if that's what they like! House sitting i will make sure to walk them feed them when needed and any medication they need. I will follow any rules in your house too. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi! I’m Will, and I’m excited to offer pet sitting and care to local families. I’ve had pets my entire life, and I know firsthand how much they mean to us. That bond is what motivates me to help others feel confident and relaxed when they need someone to step in. I’m passionate about creating a positive, safe, and enjoyable experience for every pet I meet.
I’m very comfortable with a wide range of pet personalities, from energetic and playful to shy and cautious. Whether your pet enjoys active play, a quiet walk, or simply company and reassurance while you’re away, I adapt to their routine and individual needs to give the best experience possible.
My goal is to make every pet feel happy, secure, and understood. I look forward to meeting your best friend, building trust, and giving them the genuine care they deserve.

Hello! I’m Chiara and I'm 26.I have extensive experience with animals, having grown up with numerous cats and having had a Beagle for 11 years and a 4-year-old Pug back home in Italy. I've also had birds, bunnies and turtles. Here, I live with a sweet 5-year-old Cavoodle, who would love to have a friend for the day!I am available for dog walks, home visits or house sitting. Happy to do a meet&greet before you confirm your booking :)Currently, I’m working three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays), and I’m available even on weekends.I truly enjoy spending time with animals: playing, cuddling, or going for long walks. I always treat pets as if they were my own, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable and loved while you’re away.Reach out if I can help! I’d love to meet you and your furry friends!

I have always loved animals and currently share my home with two cats, though I grew up surrounded by dogs. I enjoy learning each animal’s unique personality, habits, and little quirks, which is one of the most rewarding parts of caring for them. I have over five years of experience looking after pets, especially cats and dogs, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed every moment of it. I am currently in my second year of studying psychology full-time at the University of Wollongong. In my spare time, I love spending time at the beach, going for walks in nature, or relaxing in the kitchen baking. On quieter days, I enjoy curling up on the couch with a good book or watching a movie, especially when it’s raining. At the moment, I’m unable to host other pets in my home, as my cats are not comfortable around other animals at this time now.

I have always had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, having grown up with my family’s beloved dog in Germany, whom I already miss dearly. During my travels, I’ve been so lucky to continue spending time with dogs. In Chile, for example, I volunteered at a dog shelter, where I cared for rescued dogs and I nursed an ill puppy back to health before I found her a loving adoptive family. These experiences deepened my understanding of dogs' unique needs and personalities. I worked part-time at a doggy daycare in Melbourne, caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. This has further strengthened my skills in handling and nurturing dogs in various situations. Being a pet sitter allows me to combine my passion for animals with my hands-on experience, ensuring that your furry companion will receive the best care, love, and attention while you’re away.
