Top cities for house sitting in Australia

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Caloundra QLD home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Caloundra QLD.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Caloundra QLD home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hi there, Dan and Jess here.
We are animal lovers who have been house and pet sitting together for the past 2 years throughout London and Australia and have 15+ five-star reviews on other site. We have recently settled on the Sunshine Coast and would love to continue looking after pets by offering pet sitting and walking in our local area. Feel free to read our reviews from other sites in our photos section, or contact us for the link to our profile.
A bit about us...
In short, here are a few reasons we’re a great choice to care for your pet:

10+ years of experience caring for animals (and have been officially pet sitting for 2+ years)
Jess worked for the RSPCA and had experience caring for animals of all sizes and temperaments
We have experience looking after and walking many different breeds, temperment and size of pets...from german shephards to greyhounds to daschunds!
Your pet will always have company during the workday as we both work remotely.
We pride ourselves on being reliable and trustworthy, and have never cancelled any sits once they've been confirmed.

In more detail...
We’re an Australian-New Zealand couple in our 30s, and have recently relocated from London to Queensland after living in the UK for over 6 years. Dan works in the finance industry as a project manager, and Jess works in the not-for-profit sector for a healthcare charity. We both work from home, meaning your pets will have plenty of company and care if they are staying with us.
We both adore animals and have extensive experience caring for them. From childhood pets to regular pet-sitting for friends and pet/house sitting full time for the last 2 years, we’re no strangers to furry companions. Jess’s three years working at the RSPCA in Australia gave her invaluable experience working with animals of all kinds, including volunteering as a dog walker and as a cat foster carer. Jess has also worked as a paid pet sitter and dog walker back in Australia.
We live an active lifestyle and love incorporating pets into our daily routines - whether it’s a walk, a run, or throwing the ball in the backyard. We are very excited to now be offering dog walking in our local area.
We’d love the opportunity to care for your pets. If you have any questions or would like to chat further, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Many thanks,
Jess & Dan

Reliable & Loving Pet Sitter – Sunshine Coast (Caloundra)

Hi, my name is April and I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Caloundra. I absolutely love animals and will care for your pet as if they were my own.

I offer:

Dog walks (from your home)
Overnight stays at your home
Drop-in visits for feeding and companionship

I’m motivated to become a pet sitter because I truly enjoy caring for animals and giving owners peace of mind while they’re at work or away on holidays. Your pet’s happiness, safety, and wellbeing are my top priorities.

I handle energetic dogs by making walks and playtime fun and engaging. For shy or nervous dogs, I take a gentle approach — building trust slowly, offering patience, reassurance, and plenty of cuddles.

Your pet’s safety is very important to me. I ensure they are always supervised and secure in a fully fenced yard where applicable.

I can also support basic training such as:

Sitting before meals
Handshakes
Waiting or staying before food
Improving listening skills on walks

I have my own 4-year-old male American Staffy who brings so much joy to my life. While my experience with other animals is still growing, I am committed to providing loving, attentive care to every pet I look after.

I pride myself on kindness, open communication, and building trust with pet owners. I’m happy to discuss your pet’s specific needs to ensure they receive the best possible care.

I would love to hear from you and look forward to working with you and your furry friend!

Thank you,
April

Hi, I'm Elloise, a recent graduate from Somerville House in 2024. Currently, I am pursuing a degree in law and justice at QUT. As the eldest among my 5 siblings, I have a deep love for animals and find solace in spending time away from the bustling energy of my family.
For the past 13 years, I've had the pleasure of caring for two beloved groodles that have become an integral part of my life. Whether it's providing them with attention or taking them for walks, my bond with them is unwavering.
Studying can be done both at home and in person, offering me the flexibility to adapt to different environments. I find a sense of tranquility when studying at someone else's place, and being able to navigate around Brisbane gives me the freedom to explore.
When it comes to pet care, I offer daycare services, walking sessions, and sitting arrangements. I prioritize the safety and well-being of animals by only accepting vaccinated and non-aggressive pets. Whether it's a leisurely stroll or a 10-kilometer adventure, I'm equipped to handle all kinds of animals, including larger breeds, as I frequently embark on lengthy 2-hour walks.
Let me provide your furry companions with the care and attention they deserve, ensuring they receive the exercise and companionship they need.

I have a small Moodle named Sam and two birds. I have previously owned Huskies, cats, birds and fish, so I have experience caring for a wide variety of animals. I genuinely love all animals and am happy to spend quality time caring for your pets while you’re away.
I’m also happy to help with small household tasks such as watering plants, bringing in the mail, and putting bins out if needed. I’m comfortable cleaning kitty litter and making sure your pets receive plenty of love, attention and pats.
As I live in a unit and am limited in the animals I can have, I really enjoy the opportunity to spend time with other pets. I cannot host pets in my home without strata approval, so I provide care in your home.
I live in Sippy Downs and am willing to travel to Parrearra, Brightwater and Warana. I can also administer medication if required. I am reliable and available all days. Please feel free to contact me to arrange a meet and greet.

Hi! My name is Heather and I absolutely love dogs. I have a Golden Retriever and a Corgi at home, so I am very comfortable caring for different breeds, sizes, and personalities. Being a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to leave your pet with someone you trust. I treat every dog as if they were my own, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and well cared for at all times.
I am patient, responsible, and genuinely enjoy spending time walking, playing, and providing companionship. My motivation to be a pet sitter comes from my love of animals and the joy they bring into everyday life. I have experience caring for dogs with different energy levels and routines, and I am confident maintaining feeding, walking, and play schedules. on multiple different occasions I have dogs at family friends and friends pets including puppies with multiple pets at once and older dogs as well. I am very comfortable with walking all size dogs and I'm very reliable.
I have flexible availability and am happy to work around your schedule. I look forward to meeting you and your precious pup beforehand to ensure the perfect fit.

Because your pets deserve more than just your neighbours kid!
Hello! My name is Ashleigh. I am a 30 year old female who works full time as a registered nurse. I am a passionate animal lover, living in a small rental which houses my two beloved elderly Guinea pigs and two leafy stick insects. I have always had animals in my life, whether that be in my home or at my friends' places, farms and properties. I was raised partially on a farm with many animals and wildlife around, which required a great deal of TLC! In terms of pet sitting, I have pet sit many times for my friends and family (cats and dogs mainly), but have looked after birds in the past too. Working in the healthcare field can be emotionally exhausting and I take great joy in being outdoors and amongst our beautiful wildlife. Animals are a great gift to us, and will be treated as such!

Haha, in all seriousness I have an incredible connection when it comes interacting with dogs, cats and anything inbetween. I've grown up with many dogs in the past from rottweilers to golden retrievers and corgis to malamutes, no dog is excluded in my eyes and everyone deserves love and attention.
I find this opportunity to be both a learning experience as well as a sense of joy. I may not have previous experience with "Pawshake" however, I've had many experiences with animals regardless and everyone needs to start somewhere in becoming a sitter right?
The idea of meeting so many faces and personalities gets me really excited as well as the chance to adapt with responsibility given everyone is unique. I can also garuantee that every one of your pets will be happy and exhausted after every outting.
I appreciate your consideration and look forward to making connections in the future!

(My current home is situated within a closed street away from main roads. I have a generous outdoor area sectioned off into 3 separate yards for pets to run around aswell as an outdoor park, literally against our house for larger activities.)
