Top cities for cat sitting in Australia

Many cat owners will understand that cats can be fussy and prefer their own home environment rather than an unfamiliar place like a cattery or cat hotel. Although some cats can adapt to cat boarding if they have to, most cats become stressed when transported somewhere new.

This is where a friendly Sydney NSW Pawshake cat feeder or carer can help. Our Sydney NSW cat sitting expert can come and visit your cat while you are away on holiday or at work. A cat sitter can even stay overnight if required, which is far less stressful than sending your feline friend to a cattery for cat boarding. Whether you just need a sitter for a couple of hours or someone to visit each day for a week, our Sydney NSW cat sitters can tailor their service to suit you and please even the fussiest kitty.

Although most cats are independent, having a cat carer visit has a lot of benefits. Your chosen Pawshake cat sitter can feed, freshen up the water bowl, tidy the litter tray, and spend quality time with your cat. And unlike a cattery or cat hotel, your cat can chill out in their own familiar space.

Finally, every booking with Pawshake is with a verified carer and includes the Pawshake Guarantee and veterinary coverage, so you have nothing to worry about when it comes to your feline companion!

Didn't find the answer?

Not at all. Your cat doesn't need to go in a carrier or see the inside of a cage with Pawshake. Our cat sitters come to your home to feed, water and play with your cat. Your cat can stay right where they are happiest and most comfortable: in their own home.

Is Pawshake like a cattery?

You can find a friendly cat sitter wherever you live in Sydney. This is one of our most popular services and we have extensive coverage across all suburbs: simply pay us a visit online or on the Pawshake app to see who is close to you.

Can I find a cat sitter in Sydney?

For a start, our cat sitters absolutely adore cats! They are motivated by a love of felines and of spending time caring for them. Many are veterinary nurses and animal care students, while others have spare time and really miss owning a pet, but can't commit to owning one at this stage.

What are your cat sitters like?

You will find our cat sitters to be really affordable compared to a cattery, because there is no need for the overheads normally required in running an onsite business. Our sitters come to you, which is a better arrangement for most cats too.

Are Sydney cat sitters expensive?

Hello, I am Carly and I have recently moved to Sydney on my Working Holiday Visa from the US. I am looking to get to know more of the locals and by locals I mean pets. I have been traveling through the UK and France prior to moving here but have already decided I never want to leave. I have a group of dogs I greet every morning at my local cafe in the park and hope to meet many new furry faces. I plan on getting my own dog within the next few months but in the meantime need to fill up my animal intake somehow. I would do absolutly anything for animals, they are my main happiness in life, so please don't worry about how tremendously perfect I would treat your furry best friends. I also have my degree in oil painting so let me know if you're interested in a pet portrait or photographs!
I have watched many pets over my life and grew up with many dogs, cats, mice, and pigs. My friends actually get so irriated with how easily animals like me and every where I go they all call me snow white. My dog of 17 years just passed away last year. Still grieving but I cared for him in his deaf, blind, and unmoving days so I am completly comfortable in helping assist older dogs. As I said, I am hoping to get a dog in the next few months and would love to get to know the locals so they have friends and can have playdates/sleepovers!

Hello, my name is Marie-Julie and I'm from France ! I am 23.
About me, I am in Australia with a working holiday visa and I want to do pet sitting during the afternoon and evening. I can do everything with your dog: feed them, go for a walk with them, cuddle them and play with them...
With me, your animals will be treated with respect, attention and love.
In my country, I have a little dog called Java, it's a Cavalier King Charles, and it's been the dog of the family for 7 years now. She's so sweet and kind.
I'm so close to my dog; being with her and cuddling her is my favourite thing in the world ahah. We go for walks during weekends cause during the week she's with my parents. She loves going to the beach and running everywhere! She's really my best friend, and I miss her so much.
I would like to be with dogs in Australia to create a friendship with a dog because they gave me a lot of love and that fulfils me.
Before Java, I've had another Cavalier King Charles called Keops, like the Egyptian's pyramid!!

I have always had a good connection with pets and I would love to use my time to help you and your baby(ies).
I'm a calm and patient person and understand when a pet needs its own space. I also love spending time with animals including playing and cuddle moments.
I have especially good rapport with cats and have experience and knowledge about their preferences and needs, including for feeding, hygiene and behaviours.
I'm comfortable and experienced with anxious and shy cats, and you can be assured to receive news and photos of your pets after each visit.
I will be very happy to meet you and your pets before for you to feel comfortable with them in my care.
I'm available mornings, evenings and weekends in Pyrmont and surrounds, inner west and eastern suburbs of Sydney.

Hi there!
I am a 32 year old Elizabeth Bay resident. I adore all animals big and small, and would love the opportunity to look after your wonderful pets!Apart from animals, I love outdoor activities and being healthy and active, learning new languages and skills and challenging myself to expand my horizons. 21st century living can be quite hectic so I try to take time to re-focus on the things that matter through yoga and meditation.Being around animals makes me happy and makes the world seem like a kinder place, and while I don't have the privilege of owning my own pet right now, I would love to help other people balance their busy lives and the demands of pet ownership.
I have lots of experience looking after pets of all kinds and sizes! I am looking for dog walking or pet sitting jobs around my area, and am available immediately.

My name is Nadia and I love animals, I am responsible and careful because I know the importance that pets have for one. I have experience in taking care of pets and enjoy doing it. I am from Argentina and I lived for two years in Denmark where I took care of and walked some people's pets. I really liked it when I started doing it because they are the best company you can have. I really like outdoor activities, taking advantage of sunny days walking through parks, so I really enjoy walking my pets. I like to gain the trust of the animals I work with and be able to give them the company and affection they deserve.
I don't offer to take care of them at my house because I don't have space, but I would love to be able to share some time with them.
I would greatly appreciate it if you allow me to enjoy your pets as well.

Hi! I'm Paula, a 21-year-old animal lover currently spending six incredible months in Australia as part of an exciting internship experience. Back home in Spain, I’m the proud owner of a playful and affectionate Golden Retriever who has been my best friend and greatest teacher when it comes to understanding the joy, responsibility, and unconditional love that comes with caring for pets. Through my experience as a pet owner, I’ve learned the importance of providing animals with not just the essentials like food and exercise, but also emotional care, affection, and a sense of safety.

My time in Australia has been an amazing opportunity to grow both personally and professionally, but my love for animals remains a constant. Whether your furry companion loves long walks, playing fetch, or simply curling up for some cuddles, I’ll ensure they feel cherished and comfortable while you’re away. I know how much pets mean to their families, and I treat every animal I care for as if they were my own. I can’t wait to meet your beloved pets and give them all the love and attention they deserve!

Hello,
I am a person who loves has pets at home and loves to walk them around and I would like to share the same to your pet family member. I understand they need to get the extra energy out of their system and I would like to be the nice company your pet can have during that time.
I am usually available morning and afternon.
I can offer grooming and training if you want existing abilities to keep going or maybe new ones. I can help with medication. If there are home visits I can tidy up their space and bring up any email, take the pets to the toilet or offer some playtime.
Depending on your location I can take your pet to a walk to the Domain park
I can have a one hour walk, play time and mix with train with your pet.
For house sitting I can stay for long periods. If you are on a trip I can stay at your house. Do things such as collect your mail or bring inside packages, water your plans and put out the bins on garbage day.
In case you want some skills to be developed on your pet I can help with it, or if you only want someone who shares time with your pet while you are busy at work. I understand sometimes is hard to leave a pet at home the whole day and they need some company, even harder to leave them for a vacation trip, I know because my own family struggles with it, luckily there is always someone who can help with walking, talking and playing with our love ones. Maybe I can be that person for you and your pet, reach me out and we can meet and check that your pet, you and I make a good match!

Hi we are Dani and James, Potts Point locals and long time furry friend fans. During the week days Dani works as a lawyer in the city, while James works as a software engineer for a large tech company.
Unfortunately, our current apartment is too small for a furry friend of our own, so we want to do the next best thing and share our love for doggos with those who want a bit of extra help at home. We both owned pets before moving to the city (James is a farm boy) so are confident and comfortable we can provide the time and attention needed. We are comfortable with dogs of all sizes and training levels as well.
Like every other millennial, we also have a massive indoor plant sanctuary at home, so more than happy to help look after your green babies as well.
You'll likely get both of us together on the day when you book with us, but we will let you know if only James or Dani can make it. We both have flexible working arrangements during the week, and happy to help out on the off weekend as well.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
