My background/experience: I am an animal lover and in particular, have a soft spot for dogs and horses. I have my own dog and I am currently studying a Cert III in Dog Behaviour and Training through the National Dog Training Federation which gives me a good level of understanding and knowledge on handling and caring for dogs so you can assured that your dog is in safe hands. I have owned animals since I was 5 years old and this has included birds, cats, rabbits, fish, horses and dogs at different stages throughout my life. I am happy to do house visits which include horse care and other basic care for other animals as needed.
I have undertaken additional courses such as animal first aid lessons for horses and dogs. I am a volunteer dog walker at Domestic Animal Services as well as having had some experience as a temperement tester with ACT Rescue and Foster.
I am also prepared to look after other animals; but this would need to be discussed depending on your needs and that of your pet to ensure I can provide the quality of care needed.
What does my rate include?: For pet sitting at my house; the $35/night rate
will include a daily walk,
cater for inside/outside living
catered to your request and the assurance that your dog is with someone who has the training and confidence to deal with
your special pet. All pets that stay with me will be accepted into
my home as if it was my own. I can also cater for other special requests which may attract an additional fee but this would depend on the complexity and time requirement of your request and will be negotiated accordingly.
House visits to your home
will include food, water and 30 minutes of exercise. At an additional cost, it can include collecting mail, bringing in bins, picking up dog waste, extra dog walking/exercise time, play time and other special requests. Please note cost may vary depending on travel time/distance. If you have horses; I can also offer some services here too as I
own two of them myself but am limited to house visits only as I do not currently own my own acerage.
I can offer dog training depending on your request but have passed my course assessments for training
basic obedience and some trick training too! Training will come at an additional cost.
Home away from home: I currently live in stand alone house close to Queanbeyan town centre which has a good sized grassy fenced yard and an undercover patio; I have attached photos for your reference. I am happy to also offer dog training noting I am not yet fully
qualified but have been taught about basic obedience and some behavioural problems. I am happy to apply this experience and knowledge to assist people with their dogs and specific needs; any specific training program would come at an additional cost which can be negotiated depending on your individual needs.
A bit about the furry friend your pet will live with during their stay!: Rusty is a 6 year old lab x staffy who is a medium sized dog and has a lovely
temperment. He has been well socialised and is an obedient dog who is treated as a very special member of our family. Rusty is an inside dog when we are around and appreciates the warmth and comfort of the indoors! Rusty has a generally low energy level but
loves other dog company and loves going for walks and chasing a ball. Your dog would spend its day playing and sun baking with him and then joining him for walks and lots of photo opportunities. I am happy to provide a no obligation meet and greet to ensure they get along as this is very important as every dog combination can be different and not always suitable. A trial overnight stay can also be arranged before leaving your dog with me.
Important info on pets I cannot accept:
I will
only accept dogs that are friendly with male undesexed dogs as I would not want to disrupt the lifestyle of my own dog and my private home and yard
is not set up in a way that I can keep dogs seperated; otherwise I would have no issue with this. I also do not want to take undesexed dogs under my care in my home as it has created issues in the past with bitches
being on heat; not because it affected Rusty but due to other reasons that presented a signficant burden. Please no escape artists as my fencing is not designed to deal with dogs who like to find ways to escape. It is secure and at an adequate height but not for dogs who want to and will clear fences easily. You are very welcome to come and inspect the property and decide whether it would be adequate as I do not want to be held responsible for your dog clearing the fence.
Daytime supervision: Please note I work full time so whilst I'm happy to offer doggy day care on weekends; I'm limited as to what I can provide on weekdays. I'm still happy to accept dogs on weekdays for day
boarding but the dog would be with mine during the day unsupervised whilst I'm at work but they will keep each other company! If your dog is house trained; I am also prepared to have them inside when I am home including sleeping indoors and keeping them indoors if the weather is bad. This is only if your dog is house trained and well behaved indoors as I don't want damage to belongings and furniture but otherwise I will treat your dog as my own.
Damage to the property: If your dog does happen to damage something that required replacement or significant repair; it would be reasonable to expect the owner to cover the cost of this. A few minor holes or things that can be easily refurbished is not an issue at all but anything that will come at a cost to me would be passed to the owner and I would provide a qoute for it; not just make up an over inflated qoute. Please note this is only in the case of something that would come at a
significant
personal cost to me.
The bonus extras!: I would also be happy to offer walks every day as I take my dog out and would be happy to exercise your dog as well as having a good play with them in the yard. If you have additional needs;
I am happy to discuss these with you noting some may come at an additional cost but am happy to negotiate with you. I can do additional dog walks if required at an additional cost.
I can also cater for any special requests such as jackets, special food etc. While some of it may attract an additional cost; it would purely depend on the complexity and time requirement of your request but am happy to negotiate this.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me! Thank you
