I am an animal lover, and come from a family of animal lovers. I was brought up in England in a house that always had pets, including cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, chinchillas and fish at different times. My sister went on to be a vet nurse and puppy trainer and I surround myself with animals as much as I can! One of the earliest lessons I remember being taught from my parents was never to step on ants "because they have families too, and that ant could be another ant's aunt or uncle"! I've never forgotten that and it's meant I always treat animals as equals.

I foster kittens for a Sydney-based foster agency whenever I am able to. It can be emotionally hard work seeing the condition some of them come into our care in, and then it's very hard to not fall in love with them when you're nursing them back to health.

I own two beautiful cats (both foster fails!) who are a wonderful part of our family. Pets to me are family. I treat them as I would want to be treated myself - they trust us to look after them, and so we should.
