*NEWLY RELOCATED FROM BONDI TO MAROUBRA!!*
I am a great animal lover and volunteered as a full time carer for rescue dogs for 3 years back home in Adelaide before I moved here to Sydney just over a year ago.
Since then I have often missed the company of dogs and am especially passionate about companion dogs getting regular walks, and would like to help in ensuring this is more often the case in our busy world.
I have had extensive experience with both cats and dogs and I was often tasked with rehabilitating the most difficult cases that came through our rescue. I am calm, patient and well practiced at being the alpha. I have successfully worked dogs with seperation anxiety, fearfulness, walking issues, lack of training and high energy/low attention issues.
I strongly believe in using only positive reinforcement with any animal, and have a genuine love and affinity with dogs in particular.
I also love people, and will do all I can do ensure the wellbeing of both owner and pet alike.
Dog walking is available within the Bondi Beach area, I may also may be able to walk dogs around Ultimo & neighbouring suburbs on some days. Additional travel/driving will incur extra costs, please message me for details.
Elderly pensioners may be liable for a concession, inquire for more information.
Professional photographs such as the few examples in my photo album, are an inevitability with my frequent customers, and are happily provided to owners at no extra cost
Looking forward to meeting you and your furry, waggy friends!
*EDIT*
I texted a client with my walking process, so am posting it here unedited for now, will fix up for the site when there’s time:
I can tell ur a very conscientious dog owner so I’ll give u the full rundown (grab a coffee! )
I have a bit of a walking process which usually winds up longer than 30mins anyway esp while first bonding. I don’t work them hard but like to start with a fast paced walk into a consistent medium-paced jog (simulating a pack ‘travel’) for a while and take them somewhere grassy. There we do some mini sprints (if they’re energetic) and silly puppy frolic and play sesh (rolling on grass, gentle play fight and lots of pats & affection) then once they’ve spent that excess energy I’ll allow them some time just to have their own explore, socialise if they want to, sniff and investigate/mark the area, then I finish up with a brisk ‘all business’ walk home when I will work on improving walking techniques and bonding with them as an alpha, also letting them mark their territory on the way home of course.
This is all based on my own experience in dog training techniques & is always a very positive & fun adventure for us both. I find it stimulates them with enough variety & ‘missions’ to leave them in a happy/peaceful state of mind & I try to encapsulate as many aspects of dogs natural instinctual pack behaviours as I can in a single walk, and adapt them in each case to best suit the dogs capabilities/needs/concerns.
I also try to vary the walks from day to day and go to different destinations to keep it interesting for them. For safety’s sake I like to keep them on-leash at all times, and encourage the use of collars over harness, as harnesses encourage bad walking techniques and good training/walking techniques with collars means there is no choking. I never choke and never need to.
In terms of time I tend to go with the flow a bit and read off their energy levels, so some days it might be 45, sometimes an hour sometimes half hour, but never less than that & never half-assed. I’m happy to try and make sure yours are on the longer side but it’s also worth explaining that my cut after Pawshake takes theirs out is about $15 per walk, so it’s a bit hard for me to always guarantee a full hour at that rate, especially whilst also running my design & photography biz & attending uni as I’m sure you can understand. I do not do this for the money, I do it for the love therefore I do require to be afforded a certain level of trust in the fact that I will do the job and do it well in the time I believe is necessary from day to day.
That said, if u‘d prefer to to negotiate another pricing structure to secure a guaranteed amount of time I’m happy to do so. Either way however please rest assured I always take the job seriously and your pup will be satisfied!
Full refund if canceled before 12:00 p.m. one day before the booking, 50% refund afterward.
No refund is payable if the booking is canceled on or after the start date.
Note: All times are based on the sitter’s time zone
Laurel was a great pet sitter. Great communication and really helped us out when we needed someone last minute to look after our pup. Her walks are awesome too. Nellie was in very high spirits when we got home which isn’t always the usual. Highly recommend.
I reached out to Laurel when my work requirements changed and was finding it harder to provide the level of exercise my two Vizslas require. Laurel is exactly what our dogs need! She knows her stuff and is confident with my large, high energy dogs. After spending time with Laurel the dogs are happy, calm and tired. We’ve never had a dog walker supplement our dogs’ exercise routines before, but Laurel put my mind at ease and I was surprisingly relaxed with the idea! Laurel listened to all of my concerns and asked all the right questions in terms of getting the best out of my dogs and continuing the training and behaviours I am looking for in my dogs. Perfect!
I am very good with walking excitable dogs and improving their walking habits, I can help you with some techniques if you have a dog who is high energy and low attention whilst on the leash. I am also good with dogs who have anxiety or are fearful.
