About me

My name is Aedan, I am 22 years old, and I work as an education assistant at a high school. In the school holidays, whilst not working as an EA, I would love to use my free time to help out with pet sitting and dog walking.

My family have owned many pets throughout my life, including cats, dogs, and birds, and we have even lived on a sheep farm for several years. The many positive experiences I had has shaped my love for animals as an adult.

Whilst living by myself a few years ago, I was a foster parent for two cats and absolutely loved the experience, as spending time with animals is a big part of my life and I cherish the positive impact that a good relationship can have on their (and my) quality of life.

Since then I’ve moved in with my grandmother and unfortunately can no longer provide a foster home, and so I’m looking to fill that gap in my life with alternative animal care services.

I have a life time of experience being around animals, and have met very few that I don’t get along well with.

I also have more recent experience sitting for homes with dogs, including administering sensitive, twice daily medication, feeding and taking for walks. I also have recent experience sitting homes with cats as well. These jobs spanned from 1 week to 1 month.

Availability

Currently, as I am on holidays until the 31st of January when I return to my EA position, I am free most mornings, afternoons, and evenings during the week.

Once back at work, i’ll only be available in the evenings, from about 4:30-5 start time depending on the location and time taken to get there, until about 8 o’clock.

Services

My services include dog walking, drop ins, and dog/cat/house sitting at the owners house. I don’t have any formal training and so cannot offer additional services such as training or grooming. I do have some experience administering tablet medication to a small dog, and have no issue doing so with dogs that are typically easy going with taking their medication, although if they tend to have trouble with it then I may not be the best fit.

During home visits, I am able to stay up to 3 hours, depending on my schedule and the timing of the home visit. This is flexible however if more time is required. During the visit I can water plants, bring in mail, take bins out, feed/play with the pets, etc.

For dog walking i’m happy to walk for generally as long as is required (not exceeding an hour), depending on my schedule and the time of the walk. I will walk the dog in the area of the owners neighbourhood, generally aiming for a nearby park or lake to walk around.

For house sitting, the length of time i’m able to stay depends on the particular situation and requirements, location of the home, and whether or not it can work with my schedule for an extended period of time. If so, i’m able to house sit for up to a month.
