Iris

Hello! My name is Iris and I am recent high school graduate with a passion for animals and dreams of becoming a veterinarian! 

I've owned dogs all my life, and in my pursuit of my future career I've dedicated much of my time to gaining as much experience with animals as possible. 

In 2022, I began volunteering at my local veterinary practice, where I undertook extensive animal care routines, including cleaning, feeding, hygiene, exercise, enrichment, and medication administration. I also assisted vets in pre and post-surgical care for various species of animals. My time here also enhanced my knowledge of care for rabbits, guinea pigs and cats. 

In 2023 alongside my HSC, I completed my Certificate II in Animal Care. This is a vocational qualification that allowed me to gain practical experience and specialist skills for a career in animal care. As part of this course, I have completed units on animal first aid, and would be ready to assist your pets should unfortunate circumstances arise. 

While taking time off from studying, I am currently employed at a dog day care facility in Camperdown, where I work 3-4 days per week. In this role, I often care for upwards of 30 dogs at a time, all of mixed breeds, sizes and ages. As such I am extremely comfortable with large numbers of animals, and am still able to consistently provide excellent care. 

I am an incredibly hardworking and dedicated individual with a genuine love for animals. I do not shy away from the less glamorous parts of pet care, and would be capable of meeting all the needs of your pets; including exercise, enrichment, administering all kinds of medication, and simply providing comfort and company. 

As a fellow pet owner, I understand the value of knowing your pets are in capable hands. I would provide regular photos, videos and messages with updates about your pet, and would be available for contact at all times to keep you informed and reassured while you are away.

I understand the emotional bond you share with your pets, and I would be honoured to extend that same compassion, and give your pets the same level of love and affection I would provide to my own animals.
