I love ALL pets and animals with my entire soul and I will definitely treat your beloved companion like family. I've been working primarily as a dog-sitter, dog-walker and cat-sitter for the past five years (for a while, even, as a dog au pair!!). Before that, I was a deeply devoted dog- and cat-owner myself. I started pet-sitting and dog walking after my best (fluffy) friend, Alice, passed away. Now it's how I get my pet fix! I LOVE my job and I love that it gives me the opportunity to care for dogs, cats and vertebrates of all kinds.
I have a love of hiking, so wherever possible, I like to take dogs out into any natural area - like the beach, large parks, lakes, rivers and creeks - for long walks. I will gladly accept the challenge of a high-energy pup! (Really! Dogs make me so happy.) And if your dog likes to snuggle instead, bring on the fur!! :)
I've had cats for most of my life and frequently care for them as a pet-sitter. I have a great deal of appreciation for the level of care that goes in to caring for a cat and making sure they are happy while their parents are away; I will gladly play and cuddle all day with your furry feline friends!
Over the past few years, I've gained a significant amount of experience caring for my clients' more exotic animal companions, including birds (chickens and parrots), fish and reptiles (iguanas, geckos and chameleons).
I am a respectful and caring nonsmoker, and I will always leave your house sparkling at the end of your booking!
Please note that I cannot accept bookings made more than 2 months in advance at this time. If you'd like to enquire about dates beyond 2 months out, please check back a little bit closer to your holiday! :)
Please also note that I cannot usually accept bookings for drop-in visits for indoor dogs unless you or someone else will be with them overnight. I am more than happy to offer overnight stays for dogs, but I've found that they need much more time and care than even two drop-in visits can allow for.
Kat was amazing and our dog took to her immediately! It unfortunately started raining just as the walk was scheduled, but Kat didn't mind at all and walked him for an hour in the rain. And somehow she got our young, rambunctious dog to behave himself on their walk. I would definitely recommend!
Kat is excellent and prompt with her communication. We received constant updates when we were away and came home to a content and happy cat (we also swear the house was cleaner than we left it!). Highly recommend Kat and will use her services again for sure. Thanks Kat.
My love for animals has driven me to study Ecology, Evolution and Behavior in university and I've gained a lot of scientific insight on pet behavior and proper care.
My dog was a medium-sized Sheltie mix, so I'm very familiar with caring for high-energy canines. Alice was a rescue, and she also had a congenital heart disorder, so I spent many years ensuring she got her pills on time every day and otherwise caring for her special needs; I learned canine CPR for her as well. As she aged, she developed joint issues and became generally low-energy, so I have plenty of experience in caring for senior dogs and those who otherwise have limited mobility.
I love dogs who want to cuddle all day too! (I never mind being covered head-to-toe in fur!) I have experience caring for both large and small dogs and tending to breed-specific needs. (Also, I'll always have a soft spot for fluffy working-breed dogs!!)
I also have experience administering oral and injected medication to cats.
