About Anneke

Welcome animal lover,

My focus is providing a stable loving environment which is inclusive of your fur baby's needs.

Please note due to government regulations- at this stage I am limited to the pets allowed in a townhouse residence. As of this profile creation (please note, this may not have updated if legislation/regulations have changed) I have capacity for one dog over 10kg, or two dogs under 10kg. Current vaccination requirements as per set out by government standards are required. In my home residence there are two elderly cats. If your fur/feather baby/ies are not listed, review of the current regulations will be required to ensure we meet the current Victorian requirements.

As per requirements at time of writting, animals known or suspected to be suffering from an infectious disease must not be admitted for boarding. Dogs less than 4 months old must not be admitted for overnight boarding other than in exceptional circumstances.

I study from home, my willing company is available for your fur baby.

As a pet owner who is devoted to the care of my fur babies. I have travelled, found accommodation, worked and lived through Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia with my elderly pets Harri (short black haired cat pictured), Norm (long grey haired cat pictured) and Pearl (white dog pictured, sadly recently deceased). My fur babies are well adjusted to changing environments and feel at home in a new place instantly when I accompany them.

I also have enjoyed travel over the years, and all my adult life pets who are pictured (previously not mentioned Phrydj, (rottie who sadly passed away before expansive pet inclusive travel) have been well adjusted to changing environments. Security and feeling of safety is important for both myself and my fur babies. Trust needs to be established to foster trusting relationships. I know the importance of finding a person and environment that is the right fit for both myself and my fur babies.

Love and devotion are what others would say my "spoilt pets" require. If your pet has emotional requirements, needs human company, gentle quiet home away from home and is comfortable around two established household elderly cats, I encourage a meet and greet to help welcome your baby into our home. Every fur baby is different, some require more exposures to feel comfortable, some do not feel at home without additional time.

My focus is on a true "at home" experience. I extend the fur baby treatment to your desired extent as required. For my own fur babies an Aesop bath, hair dryer blow dry, brush, comb, clean sheets on pet beds weekly, to sit/sleep on the couch/bed, car rides safely restrained, travel, beach walks, swims, neighbourhood walks, puppy park visits, toys, home made with love quality dehydrated meat snacks, chatty "pet" conversations, seeking pet vet care, prevention of health conditions, focus on wellbeing, clean tidy environment, special purpose made grass area and pets never left unaccompanied in a yard.

Services which may also be suitable include walking and visiting services in the local area. Please note my services do not extend to stay overnight at your home (fur baby own home). Police check complete and available, meet and greet encouraged, we can negotiate and tailor to ensure this home away from home is a good fit. We will communicate predominantly through Pawshake and confirm details of care also through Pawshake.

Fur babies sometimes need time to feel comfortable, we may walk into a house and feel a sigh of relief and "at home", however excitement and new experiences can at times be overwhelming for our fur babies.

Walks, visits to be tailored to your needs and fur baby's needs.

My personal experience with "pets" - fur babies

Harri (17 year old black short haired de-sexed female cat) is clever and accomodating of other pets. With dogs she mostly takes a leadership role and ensures order is kept in her home. She utilises her presence to encourage desired behaviour of calm when she does not wish to play. However, she will also try to teach your fur baby to play fetch, "hunt" (inside cat who independent plays with toys). She is talkative, in her elderly age, she also loves children and seeks out the attention of all my young niece and nephews with their overwhelming love and intense cuddles. She needs to feel a part of what is happening and with other cats, she will allow space, rather than engagement. She will allow engagement and she will default to a "walk away" in less desired exchanges with other cats. This allows for de-escalation and calm to be encouraged.

Norm (15 year old long grey haired male de-sexed cat) is the most laid back, confident, affectionate and accommodating pet I have ever owned. He is happy to play, he is happy to sleep, he is happy to rough play mostly with dogs, or sleep next to dogs. He is a cat who I have not found a situation which he does not tolerate with a care free attitude. He will not initiate interactions with other pets, he will allow them to come to him and he then allows them to lead the interaction. He adapts to others, and just adapts without any interference from me EVER in the whole 15 years, he just adapts. The sense of calm seems to be contagious to his fur acquaintances in past experiences.

My dog Pearl (pom x pug - sadly deceased this year) had a metal trachea, issues with cruciate ligaments, daily tablet administration requirements, however was accepting of others, engaged and a happy go lucky personality. She would attend puppy daycare even in her elderly age with her additional medical needs while I was working during the day. She usually attended puppy day care once a week. She loved to be a part of it all and would need her rest time, which she would sleep in a toddler bed with the side down amongst the engaging, puppy chaos. Non stressful, mental stimulation in my personal experience have been beneficial to the well being and happiness of my babies. She required medication, multiple different specialists, at home physical therapy, tailored stimulation within her capacity in her advanced age. When she was younger, she would walk a minimum of 10 km per day, often on weekends in excess of 30 km. She would rock climb, camp, swim, run, jump, explore and take full advantage of an active life.

My dog Phrydj (rottie - sadly deceased over three years ago) was intelligent, accommodating, active, a natural leader amongst dogs, she assisted in the training of her "sister" Pearl. Both being the same age, she was gentle and utilised her need to please to help guide her less focussed "sister" in early established on acceptable behaviours. She also enjoyed for the majority of her life a very active lifestyle of camping, swimming (her preference was to not be out further than her feet could touch as she liked to feel in control), explore and walk for a minimum of 10 km a day, and commonly in excess of 30 km on weekends. Adjustments and brain exercises during the healing stages of cruciate ligament surgery involved ipad supervised games she would interact and complete challenges with her nose. Physical therapy with us both (human Mumma) in the water with encouraged water resistant swimming (no feet on the bottom). The focus was always on nurturing her and encouraging the development of her intelligence as she had a great understanding for what was happening around her. When she would have medication, she would encourage her "sister" to line up for treatment as well. The ear cleaning solution was used is her ear, her sister also was able to recieve "cap on" treatment (no solution expressed into ear). (Note, I also needed to administer injections daily to her for some time - the trust developed = relaxed experience for my fur baby)

My childhood pets in central Victoria consisted of hand raised and naturally trained birds, quails and chickens. Our feathered friends were all seen as valued family members, had names and would "come" when called. The chickens has free range in the backyard and would be willing participants in activities my sister and I would create for them. Balance games of follow the human leader, tricks of jumping on shoulders and backs. The chickens would attend without restraint, just with the encouragement of our presence. Escape elsewhere in our generous yard was always an option, but the chickens did seek out mental stimulation and activities with us. Birds, chickens and quails in my experience are very social with humans who have the time to engage with them and build trust.

Our other childhood pets included a labrador, rescue cats, rabbits and guinea pigs - again all well loved and "naturally trained" by two young siblings. Our natural behaviour as children was to respect our pets, provide for opportunities for engagement with us and develop trust and love between the whole family unit. Our pets were always a part of our family. We were responsible children, and these were our pets. All of these pets had limited confinement and were free to roam. They would engage in different games appropriately played with each pet. Each pet benefited from the interactions and play, which also established trust, which was found necessary when additional needs arose in each as the pets advanced into elderly ages. These more "common pets" also sought out our childhood interactions.

Home away from home for your fur baby. Focused on ensuring a right fit for a positive experience for all. Please also note, I have a newborn son, as per normal newborns he does cry. I will discuss this before accepting your booking. I would hate for this to stress out your fur baby. I want to ensure the experience is the right option fir your pet.

****Help your fur baby feel at home****
Please provide bedding, food bowls, leash, toys, medicine and detailed instructions, nutritional needs, games, vaccination papers, vet details, and the more details you provide the better.

Anneke is a phenomenal sitter and cared so well for our two dogs that I didn’t think they’d want to come home. Highly recommend.
