Hi!

I'm an animal lover from waaaaaay back, but I do have a special place in my heart for dogs, in particular.  I've grown up with dogs, cats and birds, as well as having friends as a kid who had mice and rats, and I've looked after a friend's turtle while he was overseas for a couple of weeks, in my home.

I lost my much loved dachshund, Larry, toward the end of 2018.  He was 15 1/2, so I am very much across managing animals with special needs, or that are simply in their more high maintenance, twilight years.  Towards the end, Larry became blind and deaf, had mobility issues, and eventually semi-incontinent.

I'm still not ready to get another pet of my own at this stage, and that is why I decided to join Pawshake instead - this way I can still get my regular pet fix :)  I also used Pawshake myself to find a sitter for Larry after his lifelong kennel closed down, so I understand the needs of the owner, too.

When we're not petsitting we also foster dogs (mostly greyhounds) until they find their forever home.   It's such a fulfilling way to give back to the fur friends who make our lives better every day!

I live in a three bedroom apartment in Ashfield.  It is entirely floorboards and tiles so I have no hang ups about any occasional accidents that may occur inside.  I do prefer to be told if this is likely so I can be prepared though!  There is a large, fully fenced dog park a 20 minute walk away, but I also have a small park 5 minutes walk away, and a decent sized balcony for some outdoors time between walks.

Because I live in an apartment building, unfortunately I am unable to take dogs that bark excessively or suffer from separation anxiety.

I work Monday to Wednesday part time in Concord, including Tuesdays from home, so I have ample time to dedicate to your furry (or not so furry) family member.  I have 2 children aged 9 and 14 who live with me part time and they also love animals.  They are very understanding and respectful of the need for animals to have personal space :)
