We are a family with 2 kids and we’ve been pet-sitting on Pawshake for about 2 years. We’ve had many furry guests so far with quite a few repeat boarders. We can’t have our own dog at the moment, so we love having the opportunity to look after other people’s. Dogs who stay with us get lots of love and attention, walks and playtime, or cuddles and company if that is more their thing. Generally, your dog will become a part of our family during their stay - if we are going out (eg to a cafe, to a family occasion, etc) we will take them with us if we can. I have some experience training dogs, so we enjoy teaching them new tricks or helping them practise the ones they already know. We live in a townhouse with a small secure backyard, and a small private grassy reserve nearby which is great for letting dogs have off-lead exercise, especially if they don’t like dog parks or don’t get along easily with other dogs. Unfortunately, because we live in a townhouse, we can’t host dogs who bark a lot. I work part-time so dogs staying with us need to be able to tolerate staying on their own at home for 4-5 hours at a stretch on week days. The Northern Beaches is a paralysis tick risk area, so all dogs must have adequate tick protection.
