I am a mature, quiet-natured lady. I live with my husband, Michael. For 19 years we had a hobby farm south of Hobart, Tas. We had dachshunds (our kids) and also alpacas and mini ponies. After our last dachie died, we decided we would spend some time travelling before getting any more dogs of our own, so we sold the farm and moved up to town to our apartment in Sandy Bay.
We both like to travel so are reluctant to have any more dogs of our own for now. I really miss my dachies though and I miss having dogs around which is why I now love to look after them for others. Dog minding and dog walking allows me to enjoy the companionship of dogs as well as being able to travel more. When I am away, either with Michael or on my own, I love to housesit where there are puppers to look after.
I have looked after many breeds from puppies to seniors and also some special needs dogs (blind, deaf, IVDD disabled, dementia and other illnesses). I completed a Pet CPR and First Aid Course in 2017 through PetTech.
Our apartment is a warm, sunny, calm and peaceful environment, just a short walk from the beach and several parks. It's a cosy space and there's not much room for running around, so suitable for smaller and/or non-boisterous dogs only. We have a small yard/garden at the back and a deck off our living room.
We both love to walk so your pupper will get lots of nice walks on Sandy Bay beach and to a nearby park/reserve. I usually go for two walks a day, morning and afternoon, for between half to one hour. I tailor the walks to suit your dog. If he's active and likes to walk, we'll go further, otherwise happy to just potter around the neighbourhood and enjoy all the new smells.
Your dog will sleep inside. Their bed can be in our bedroom or other part of the unit. We're happy for small puppers to sleep on our bed if that's what they do at home. I try to keep to your pupper's normal environment and routine as much as possible. I work part-time for a not for profit organisation and can do much of my work from home, so your dog won't ever be without company. When I go into the office, your pupper can come along too.
I only care for one dog at a time (or two if they are from the same family) so your dog will enjoy all the attention, with lots of smooches, puppy massage, tummy rubs, and of course, intelligent conversation :-)
I'm looking forward to meeting you and your best pal.
