About Michael
I’m a full-time IT engineer and part-time pet companion. I share my home with two cats who like to keep an eye on me while I work and making sure I don’t slack off too much! They’re pretty chill and don’t mind a visiting dog. I have a dedicated office for work, so visiting dogs have a safe, comfortable space to relax, play, and feel at home.
I grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, including a few Border Collies who were like my best friends. I’ve always loved their energy, loyalty, and personalities, and I really miss having dogs around full-time. Pet sitting gives me a chance to enjoy their company again and to give them the love and attention they deserve while their owners are away.
I love having a dog around as they’re the perfect excuse to step away from the keyboard, get outside for a walk, and enjoy some fresh air. I’m able to supervise and spend time with dogs throughout the workday, keeping them safe, happy, and entertained. I occasionally dog-sit for friends who work long hours, so I’m used to all kinds of personalities, from energetic pups to laid-back loungers.
I live right next to the beautiful Mullum Mullum Creek Trail, which is perfect for peaceful walks surrounded by nature. It’s one of my favourite spots to stretch my legs and it’s even better with a furry walking buddy by my side. There are plenty of safe paths, shady trees, and interesting scents for curious dogs to explore, making it a great place for daily walks and a bit of outdoor adventure.
An ideal day for me with a visiting dog starts with them arriving around 9am. They’ll have some chill time in the morning while I’m in meetings. When nature calls, we’ll head outside for a bathroom break and maybe a little game of fetch or some sniffing around. Around lunchtime, I love going for a longer walk for about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how much their little legs can handle. Well be enjoying the fresh air along the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail or at Ringwood Lake. The rest of the day is spent snoozing or relaxing and keeping each other company until it’s time for their owner to pick them up, ideally before 5pm. These hours fit well with my working schedule and feel perfect for both pets and me, creating a happy, calm way to spend the day.
My cats are curious, so they usually introduce themselves when the visiting dog is calm. It’s a slow and easy process, and everyone adjusts at their own pace. I can also stick to each pet’s usual routine such as feeding, playtime, and walks and make sure there’s plenty of water, secure spaces, and a calm, friendly environment.
Whether it’s cuddles, company, or daily walkies, your pet will get lots of love and attention, and I’ll make sure they feel safe and happy while you’re away.
