Hello!

I'm Tara, a late-30-something lover of animals!

I work for 'Pets Of The Homeless', where we provide support for people with pets, who have found themselves experiencing homelessness. We provide safe shelter (temporary foster care) for people's pets while they look for housing, or if they need to go to hospital etc, so that they can get the help they need, and not have to surrender their beloved pet.

I don't have any pets of my own, (as my current lifestyle does not really lend itself to one that would be fair for a full time doggy, and my housemate is allergic to cats), but I foster dogs for our organisation (with a soft spot for larger dogs) and up until recently, my housemates have always had dogs in the house, so I have experiencing in caring for dogs. I grew up with cats, and so my love for dogs and cats is equal!

I will often base my neighbourhood walks on routes past all the friendly dogs and cats, so that I can get cuddles and pats in with my exercise, and if you lose me at a gathering, I can usually be found hanging out with the pets of the house.

We have many animals come through the office, often very nervous due to the being brought to a new space with people they don’t know, and I believe that I’m good at making pets feel comfortable and safe in my presence.

In between fostering, I want to offer pet sitting and dog walking in my free time, so that I can scratch the itch of wanting to care for, and hang out with animals, until I'm in the position to have my own.

I’m offering house visits for cats and dogs (feeding, walking, cleaning out litter trays, and cuddles! etc), as well as overnight stays, and dog walking. (Also happy to care for plant babies as well!)
