I'm a 33yo public servant patiently waiting for the day that I have my own dogs!
While I live in Lyneham I'm happy to travel 20-25mins to a home.
Experience and history:
All my life I've been around animals... multiple family dogs (Great Dane, German Shepherds, German Shorthaired Pointer, Kelpie), school class pets, and friends' pets. In recent years I've also owned many fishies and guinea pigs...all gorgeous with very different personalities.
Since moving to Canberra I've done my fair share of dogsitting... Great Danes, Kelpie, Golden Retriever, and Jack Russell...I've also helped out when visiting home and my parents are dogsitting...Terriers, German Shepherd, Staffy, along with house/pet sitting for my Aunty and cousin in Hobart...Scottish Folds, Maltese Schitzu, and big kitty fluffballs!
Amongst these, I've had some sick babies who have needed regular medication and, on occasion, emergency vet visits (including my own pets, sadly).
I also have a tendency to say hello to every dog I pass on the street, and will happily be introduced to all kinds of animals (I particularly love Llamas and Alpacas!)
I currently live in an apartment so having the opportunity to look after fur babies (given I can't have pets) is incredibly enjoyable and rewarding...not to mention a lot of fun having cuddles and playing. I also love the fact that I can keep someone's baby happy and relaxed while they're away. It's always nicer for animals to stay in their own home rather than be put in a random kennel where they may not receive enough attention and may become anxious.
Overnight stays - I will come and stay in your home for however many nights required, feed your pet as required, and keep their water topped-up. I will water any plants and take out the bins if requested (although if the bin is full I will take it out anyway!). I will also vacuum before I leave and remove any linen from my bed. If overnight stays include a walk, there will be no charge for walking. Your pet will also receive cuddles and enjoy play-time - basicallly whatever they would normally do at home.
Daily visits - these can be Single or Double; I will check on your pet, feed them and top-up their water bowl, and spend some time with them. A standarad visit is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending what is required to do (e.g. a morning visit to give breakfast would be 1.5 hour, while an afternoon/evening visit would be 2 hours). I can also put out bins if required at the same time, or do a quick plant water.
Walking - a walk is 1 hour in length which includes time at either end to make sure your pet is comfortable at home (top-up water after walk, too). If your pet can only walk a short amount of time, I will simply spend more time with them at home during that 1-hour block. If a daily visit includes a walk, you will only be charged for half the walking rate.
*If medication is required during any of the above services I'll ensure this is given accordingly based on the owner's advice and guidance. Please also ensure Emergency Vet details are provided.
All animals, big and small, young and old. I love them all so please get in touch if you want your fur babies to have an enjoyable and comfortable experience while you relax on holiday.
Jen was awesome! Our dogs loved her straight away. She took great care of them and sent pictures. We would highly recommend her and will definitely use her again!
Having met Jen, we were very confident that she would be ideal to live in with our two ‘adopted’ (rehomed) Beagles: one anxious five year old and a nearly 15 Golden Oldie with daily medication needs. Daily updates and photos confirmed that Jen was, indeed, a skilled and caring dog and house sitter. We were able to fully relax on our holiday knowing our ‘boys’ were receiving the best of care. We hope Jen will be available for our future holidays.
I have a current Baseline Security clearance
