I have had many pets during my lifetime, all of whom I remember and have loved and cared for very much.
My husband and I live in our own home on a quarter-acre block in the leafy suburb of Kilsyth, just at the foot of Mount Dandenong - with our dogs, Charlie (cocker spaniel), Jasper (Maltese/Shitzu cross) and cats Sweet Pea and NIKITA (spayed tabbies).
From time to time our grandchildren visit and they love and play with our pets as much as we do. I can honestly say that your pet will be in good hands with me - whether at your home or mine.
My preference is for daytime pet sitting (cats or dogs) and dog boarding, and I am happy to walk your dog. If at all possible, I would prefer to look after cats or just visit and feed them at your home (with love and cuddles), as cats feel safest in their own surroundings. Dogs can be at either, as they respond well to love and attention with the right carer, no matter where they are housed.
All my pets are vaccinated and in a healthy condition, with regular vet checks each year. So there's no need to worry about your pet's health while in my care. Except for the occasional outing to the shops or appointment, I am home most days and evenings and can fit in with your preferred routine for your pet. Charlie usually enjoys mincemeat, some dried food and chicken necks for his meals twice a day and I would feed your pet the same, unless you tell me otherwise. My cats love cans and sachets of Felix, Applaws and Fancy Feast - they’re fussy and spoilt, but I do love them and get much love in return.
My skills with dogs and cats have developed over many years. As an animal lover, I have always ensured they have been in a healthy condition, with the help of my local veterinarian whom I have known for a long time. As I am semi-retired, I am free to choose what I really love to do and this is to give a lot of love and attention to my pets. A typical day would start with feeding the animals, followed by a dog walk of 40 - 60 minutes approximately. The cats prefer to sleep most of the day but know exactly when it's mealtime, and if I'm running behind they’ll remind me!
At night, Jasper sleeps at the side of my bed and my cats sleep on the bed with me. I'm happy for this arrangement if needed - depending on your pet's preferences. I'm very fond of lap cats in particular and can give your cat as much time as they need to comfort them if they are anxious in any way.
Trust me with your pet and you won't regret it. Thank you.
Pauline looked after our cocker spaniel Max for a total of 8 weeks. We needed to look for dog boarding urgently for Max, as we were forced to relocate to temporary accommodation due to a power failure in our house, which took 10 weeks to resolve with our insurance company; initially we thought we could drive to our house and feed Max twice a day, whilst in temporary accommodation, however he missed us too much and Max tried to escape from the backyard of our house twice!! We found Pauline through Pawshake as she was conveniently close to our residential house and we could visit Max easily if we wanted to, so we chose her. When we dropped Max off, we were a little worried if he would assimilate with Pauline's three dogs (one who was there on a short term basis) and two cats, as Max tends to get jealous of our two indoor cats at home. We found however, that Max settled in really well, and our concerns were allayed when Pauline regularly sent through many reports of how Max was going, along with photos of Max relaxing on her sofa, going for walks and playing with her other dogs, and sleeping in a comfortable dog bed next to her bed. When the day finally arrived to move back to our house and pick up Max, it was clear that Pauline was a little sad as she had become very fond of Max during his stay. We really appreciated the exceptional care Pauline gave Max; in particular, as this all occurred during Covid-19 lockdown restrictions in Melbourne which was already quite stressful on top of an insurance claim. It was good to know that Max was well cared for! I would highly recommend Pauline to anyone and will definitely book her again when we can travel after Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
Pauline has provided ongoing care and attention for our dog Max, who needed someone to look after him as our house was uninhabitable due to a loss of power. We were relocated into temporary accommodation which did not allow pets.
Pauline often sends updates including photos of Max which reassures us that he is happy and well looked after.
