Background and Personal Pets

My name is Kate, and I’d dare you to find a more passionate animal lover. I’m originally from the USA, but I’m here studying for my Masters in Tropical Biology and Conservation. Back home in the States I have 2 amazing dogs (both medium to large size), chickens, multiple tanks of fish, and a Himalayan cat. My father also worked in a local pet shop while he was in college, so he has passed on so much information to me about countless animals and their care. In the past I’ve had rabbits, guinea pigs, and an amazing chinchilla that I used to take for walks outside On his leash. While getting my undergraduate degree in the States, I also dog sat for one of my professors on several occasions and would sometimes walk his dogs as well.

Townsville Experience

Since coming here, I haven‘t gotten any pets since it wouldn’t be fair to them when I have to fly back home at the end of my degree. However, I have befriended my neighbors and their adorable rescue, pictured in several of my profile pictures here. They entrusted me with a key to their yard to go and visit their dog and I go over to spend several hours with her a couple days a week. I will also take her for occasional walks and trips to the dog park. My housemate has a Great Dane as well, whom I often go to play with and give attention to. My friends even joke that if I see a dog, I am instantly on alert, trying to befriend them. They also call me the dog whisperer because I tend to win over dogs and read their behaviors easier than others.

Only Take Small Pets to My Home

Due to my housemate having a Great Dane already, animals that I care for in my own home will need to be small and able to be confined in my room and the house’s living room. Therefore, reptiles, birds, and small mammals will be able to be pet sat at my house, but no dogs and likely no cats (exceptions may be made in special cases).

Offered Service Details

Pet walking, pet home visits, and trips to the dog park are all general services at no extra charge. If the owner wants, I can make special trips for pet walks to special places such as the Palmetum botanical gardens or the beaches. Also if your pets have a favorite dog park or park to stroll through, just let me know. If possible, I will take them there. I’m also able to go visit your dog, cat, or other pet at your home. Regardless of where I am with your pet and how I’m caring for them, I can guarantee that they will get lots of love and attention. If the owner likes, I can also take pictures to assure them that they’re safe and having a wonderful time under my care.
