We live in an EPIC location with gated private access into 4 acres of a fully enclosed dog park. We also live just 500m away from 50 acres of dog heaven and only 3.5km from the beach (with Mentone off-leash dog beach too!)
I'm a single parent to a dog loving 11 year old boy, and two Groodles - Potato and Pumpkin.
Potato is a standard Groodle who was heavily socialised from a very young age, went through weekly behavioural training as a very young pup and as a result is very good at dog communication and body language. He knows to play slow and gentle with puppies, to respect older dogs and he knows how to make nervous dogs relax and play with him. He's a good influence on other dogs around him.
Pumpkin was born 1st December 2021 and is an absolute fruit loop! She attends weekly advanced training classes with me and can "find my phone" when we hide it!
Our Home: I live at the end of a quiet court which backs on to the 4 acres mentioned above. We have a large fully fenced back garden and I partially close it off for 2 hours each day to give the second half of the garden freedom for my two rabbits...which provide dogs with ample entertainment too! Bunny watching! Yay!
Home Life: Dogs are my life and this is my full time business now, so the dogs are supervised 100% of the day. I have their beds set up in my dining room for naptime and we have a pretty consistent "adventure-brekky-nap-play-training-nap-play"...routine every day! Just like school!
Morning Routine: I usually like regulars to be dropped off between 7:00-7:30am so that they can come with us on our morning adventure to 50 acres or the beach. Our morning adventure is at least 1 hour and sometimes 90 minutes jogging through bush and across fields and seeing the farm animals in the back paddock. We then come home to feed and watch the rabbits, wash paws, have brekky and have a nap.
Lunchtime Routine: Lunchtime is usually a run and play in our 4 acre dog park, followed by some training such as "drops" in the garden with trust building exercises. We then go home for lunch snacks and another nap.
After School Routine: We usually play fetch in the garden in the afternoon as the park gets too busy; or my son Theo watches the dogs whilst I do solo-training walks with a few of them around the block.
Training: I have quite a lot of structure in my routine and dogs LOVE the structure and the boundaries which helps them settle in if they're a little anxious to start with. I'll teach your dog door manners to ensure they don't dash out of my gate the second it's opened which is an important security measure also.
Sleeping: I do have mild dog allergies so I do not allow dogs in my bedroom but your pup will sleep in the dining room with Potato & Pumpkin.
Both my son and I absolutely LOVE the different personalities of all the dogs we meet and dogs love us because we praise them constantly and we are confident and a lot of fun! Dogs love being told they are good. And they get told that A LOT when they stay with us!
