DOGGIES I WILL HOST: I love dogs great and small but when hosting I prefer to host female dogs, above 1 years old which are neutered/fixed and house trained.
A bit about me...
HISTORY: My grandfather was a police dog trainer, so when I was very little I used to watch him train the dogs.
I grew up with lots of pets (dogs, cats, birds, horses, a sheep and even a donkey) and once I left home I had pets of my own. After my pets went to pet heaven (at a ripe age of 18 and 20!) I spent 3 years abroad for my work (software). During this time I was pet sitting for the majority of the time (see photos) as I missed having pets in my life. Now that I am back home I prefer to care for a variety of pets, rather than having one of my own.
CURRENT SITUATION: My husband and I work from home and are self employed, which gives us the perfect opportunity to care for pets.
We have been working from home for the last 10 years and this routine is not going to change.
Typically I am in front of the PC or on the telephone, and my furry house guests stay with me in my study.
At all times they can roam around the house and yard freely - I have the outside door always open.
Our yard is approx 1000+m2 and is surrounded by 1.8m fences and an automatic gate. We do not have children or pets of our own.
EXERCISE: When we are not working (which we love to do), we are either going for long walks or climbing mount cootha. If our furry house guest enjoys a walk or climb, it becomes a family event.
OUR HOUSE: Our house has timber floors and tiles - no carpet. Let me know your pet's routine and we will ensure we stick with it. It needs to feel like home right! We prefer our house guests to sleep inside, however if your pet is accustomed to sleeping outside that is fine too.
When inside at night s/he can sleep in either of the spare bedrooms or common area.
DOG WALKS: In relation to walking your dog, I tend to monitor the dogs mood.
If s/he seems alert and ready to go, we go either for a walk or a play in the yard. If just sleepy, I let her sleep.
Generally dogs are active in the morning and late in the afternoon.
Being self employed, and working from home, the frequency of walks is all dependent on what dog needs.
DAY CARE: I am home all day, everyday.
I may just need to go to the shops, but I would be back within the hour as all the shops are nearby.
I can care for up to 3 dogs at the same time, as there is plenty of space, we have a quiet home, I am flexible with my work obligations and can give them plenty of attention.
BOARDING: As described above, I am home all day and to be honest, mostly all evenings too, unless I am going out for dinner or exercise.
All that is wrapped up within 3 hours or less and happens maybe once or twice a week.
Bernadette looked after our labradoodle for two nights. She communicated with us regularly by sending pictures and videos of our dog, Huxley. Huxley seemed to love her stay with Bernadette and her partner! We would highly recommend Bernadette for all your pet sitting needs.
Bernadette was great at answering our emails promptly. Meet & greet went well & Ferg totally felt at ease with Bernadette, giving her his best ‘pat me’ eyes right from the start. He loved his day stays with Bernadette - I think he likes the comings & goings of people & dogs. Bernadette went above & beyond to help us out & Ferg & I certainly appreciated it! Thanks Bernadette!
