I am a registered nurse and animal lover who loves to hang with hounds in my downtime.
I offer the following services:
Pick up & drop off
I've been around dogs since birth, growing up with German Shepherds, Jack Russells and English Pointers. I live with my partner, James, a fellow animal lover who has grown up bouncing around with Springer Spaniels. We hope to soon become pooch parents, but until we get get our own fur child we have a colossal pooch shaped hole in our lives! I would love to fill this with cuddles at home and adventures to the park doing the best job ever looking after your pooch!
Motivation and Experience:
I love being active and outside. My motivation for dog walking and sitting services is driven by my passion for strolling our nearby parks with a four-legged pal - much more enjoyable than on your own! I work part-time and do shift work, so being at home or outside with a doggo is my idea of the perfect break on my days off. I love to have a stroll with some company before or after a shift.
I’ve been pawshaking regularly for the past year, but before that have cared for various pets of friends since moving to Melbourne from the UK. I have found dog walking and sitting allows me to combine various passions with some flexible extra work hours! I have experience with a diverse range of breeds.
My more extensive experience has been growing up and attending puppy school with our German Shepherds Heidi and Eva, our Jack Russells Sparky and Saffy. I also enjoy walking my Mum's four energetic English Pointers Amber, Chloe, Marley and Fudge extensively when I am back visiting in the UK.
Living and walking facilities:
I live in a large two bedroom apartment with a large secure rooftop area and adequate floor space for dogs to trot around, sniff and explore. Your pups will stay inside with me, where they will be treated like a member of the family! They have access to the whole apartment and my outdoor area whilst I’m not home. We have a large dog park less than 5 minutes walk away which includes a secure enclosed area. This is my regular walking spot as it’s great for socialising, but I like to take more energetic pups for a good run to Royal Park or over to a dog beach. Brighton and Altona dog beaches are some of my favourite social spots - but I’ll always check what you’re comfortable with first. We love to get out in the countryside or down the coast on days off, so if you’re happy for your doggos to have an adventure out with us we are always keen for the action!
I recommend myself for small to medium breeds - as a small female, I would much prefer to be in control. However, if your dog is well trained, easy going large dog, please contact me, and I will be happy to accommodate. I am happy to care for well-socialised dogs in groups they are familiar with and those that love making new furry friends too!!
Due to working shift work, my days and hours vary, but my partner is working from home so there is currently 24/7 companionship available for our furry guests. I usually work morning or afternoon shifts at a nearby hospital and have plenty time around work to devote to walking and playing and James loves to take over cuddling duty whilst I’m working! I love to come home to a pooch and pamper them, as part of my sitting service I will always ensure that your dogs walking and social needs are met. On my days off I will give your pooch the full day of my undivided attention that they deserve, long walks and adventures included, as part of my doggie boarding service. Please contact me with any queries... I hope to be caring for your favourite furry friend(s) shortly!
Nichola and James are absolutely amazing and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Highly recommended!
Nichola and her partner have become like a second home to my small dog Chappie! In fact I worry that he likes their place more than mine now!! I can't recommend them enough. Nichola even read up on Chappie's breed before they looked after him the first time. He can be an anxious little guy when separated from me but he gets so excited when he realises we have arrived at their complex and stands and wags his tail waiting for them to open the door and happily trots away from me ( a first!) so they are definitely doing something right in Chappie's books!
Whilst I am not specialised in animal care, as a nurse I have recent national and international police checks (and some nifty first aid skills and intuition!)
