ABOUT ME 🌷

hi, i'm sofia! i love reading, live music, gardening, and most of all, ANIMALS. i grew up in regional nsw with dogs, cats, chickens, mice, and fish. my life isn't full without a furry friend around!

im in the communications sector. during my studies i worked in the disability support field, including helping out as a TAFE tutor, house deep-cleaner, home and pet carer, and more.

i value accountability, empathy, integrity, fun, humour, and organisation, which i bring to every aspect of my life.

EXPERIENCE 🐾

i have a heap of experience, beginning with the animals i grew up with. my parents were determined that i understood the complexity and responsibility that came with owning pets. that included everything from meals, to administering flea treatment, to dispensing medication, to advocating for my pets in vet visits! i am confident, patient, and gentle with animals. i understand each is different and love getting to know them at their pace.

i've lived in sharehouses ten years, three of those with housemates who had dogs or cats (and one rabbit!), whom i petsat regularly during their vacations and work commitments. i've also petsat for neighbours and family friends before, as well as clients in my five years of disability support work.

five years ago my partner jamie and i had the privilege of rescuing a beautiful staffy named marli from a neglectful home. marli is sweet, silly, playful, and so so loving. she attends behavioural training and has some quirks from her past.

my speciality experience* includes:

• reactive dogs.
• dogs who aren't socialised/can't be around other dogs or animals.
• strong, large dogs (especially lead-pullers. i own several leads types to suit your dogs needs).

• senior dogs with medical needs.
• senior cats with medical needs.
• multiple cats adjusting to newly living together.

*this means i have lived with, and/or cared for animals, with these needs.

MY AVAILABILITY 🗓️

i currently am learning to drive, and rely on my bike or public transport. im located in brunswick east so northside or the city is best! i am currently largely free until my graduate job begins in february and will then move to after hours/weekends. however, at the moment i have full availability, and can do walks, house visits, or stay over!

i love to do a meet-and-greet at your house as it's an amazing way to be introduced to you and your pets, and for you all to get to know me! i will ask questions to get to know your pets needs and understand how to best care for them. as a fellow animal lover and pet owner, i completely understand missing your pet and wanting to know it's in good hands, and am happy to give as many updates and photos as you like.

i'll make sure to go over:

• any questions you have about me.
• location of your pets food, water, toys, and grooming tools.
• your pets routine and timing for activities, walks, meals, bedtime, and medication.
• your pets regular vet, emergency vet, and any other contacts you'd like me to have.
• household information including when to water plants, put out bins, and expect mail/packages.
• look-over of the house/garden and location of cleaning supplies (for home visits/stays).
• you'll see me writing all this info down for later!
