My name is Alex and I am a proud cat lady. I live in Braddon with my independent (read grumpy) cat Abby an 8 year old DSH. Abby is not fond of many people so I am very used to being around pets with special needs. I am aunt to two amazing but spoilt huskies who I enjoy walking and playing with as regularly as I can. If I didn't live in an apartment and my cat was friendlier I would love to have a dog. I am originally from Newcastle (NSW) and one of the things I struggled with the most when I moved to Canberra was finding someone to look after my cat when I went away as I previously used family members as pet sitters. I therefore understand how hard it can be to leave your pet in the care of someone you don't know. I have used Pawshake several times and have been so happy with the process that I wanted to offer the reassurance I had to other people. I offer home visits (dogs and cats) and dog walking. I live and work in the Canberra CBD area but have a car so am willing to travel to other areas.

Fantastic! Alex was an amazing pet sitter who I recommend highly. From the start communication was clear and easy with a pre meeting with myself and the cats and a seperate pick up for the keys a week early as this was the most convienant time for me.
Whilst away I had a message that Alex had been robbed and my keys were in one of the bags stolen, the way she handled this situation was exemplary, her main concern being access to my cats, she was in quick communication with me, contacting my body corporate, organising a locksmith on a public holiday (covered by the pawshake insurance) and even being in touch with my nominated contact as well back in Australia. Once inside she spent extra time cuddling the kitties and sent through photo updates.
My cats were happy and relaxed and my new keys in an area easily accessible when I arrived home, Alex even left a lovely Thank-you *really appreciated but feel this should have been from me to you!* and even offered to pick up milk so I could have a cuppa on my return.
I believe the way Alex handled a very stressful and difficult situation was fantastic and fills me with confidence that should something happen to my cats whilst I am away she would handle this with a calm head, common sense and fantastic communication!!!
