Hello!! My name is Mel I am 28 years old, I have moved to Brisbane as of 2019 with my partner Guy, and we absolutely love animals!! I work from home as a Ph.D. student and Organisation consultant, and absolutely need your help getting out from behind my desk for a bit of daily exercise and adventure.I have been the owner of Cats (Oatmeal and Jack for 7 years) and had dogs as a child, all of my animals have been rescues. Working from home I find the daily interaction with animals for walks and fur babysitting to be a real mood booster, how can you have a bad day if you get to give cute animals daily cuddles!?
My first job as a teenager was at a small pet store, that rehomed rescued and unwanted animals - it sparked a life long joy in animals.
I have pet sat for friends and colleagues over the past 2 years, of many types of animals, including cats, dogs, mice, chickens, and the occasional reptile. The average length of pet sitting was 2 weeks and activities included; daily feeding and walks (for dogs), changing litter boxes/cleaning hutches, pet baths (if needed) and spending a minimum of 30 minutes with the animals for a bit of play and petting.
The following is a break down of what I will offer when pet sitting and dog walking, I am happy to discuss and points further.
I understand animals can get a bit sad and stressed if mum/dad have to go away for a period of time, to help alleviate this I will align as closely as possible to the current feeding/ walking/ activities already in place with your fur babies. I am happy to drop in at necessary times to feed and pet the more independent fur babies (staying for approximately 1-2hrs a visit) or stay over to create a comfortable environment for your animals. Sitting activities will include but not be limited to:
- feeding/watering (daily)
- walking/ playdates (daily)
- cleaning of sleeping areas/ potty areas (as required)
- pet washing/grooming (if required)
- general playing/ petting fun
-DAILY PHOTO CHECK-IN set to mum/dad to see how well I am doing
I am committed to walking either early morning or in the early evenings (to avoid the hottest parts of the day) on a DAILY basis. When we go for a walk I will tailor it to the requirements of the dog, for example:
- high energy dogs will get some hills and a park play session included in their walk
- smaller or elderly dogs will get a gentler stroll and we will stick to the shade
- LENGTH: I will keep walks between 30minutes (minimum) and 1 Hour (maximum)
When we get home I will make sure all equipment (leash, pop bags, etc) are put away and give your doggo a BIG drink of fresh water and a little treat to say thank you for coming on the walk with me.
In order to schedule my clients and University work, I will aim to maintain a regular walking routine with your fur baby.
I am happy to walk multiple dogs at a time as long as they are in the same 'activity' range and arent XL in size.
If you need to cancel or change our walks please let me know where possible 24HRs in advance
ALL animals I sit and walk will need to be vaccinated
What a lovely person. Melanie made sure Ripley was well looked after and loved having chats and pats. Thank you! See you again soon.
Our two Shihtzu crosses were really looked after and given the attention they needed while we were away. We will be using Mel and Guy again in the future to take care of the boys.
